FBI stalkers run man down and leave him in the street.

Saw this on FOX news an hour or so ago. The FBI is still stalking the man they've been trying to pin the 2001 anthrax episode on. I can't think of his name at the moment.
Anyway. The guy went somewhere to buy groceries. A car load of FBI stalkers got on his tail and ran red lights and committed a few other safety infractions while tailing him. The guy stopped and took pictures of the stalkers and told them to back off. Apparently they hit the gas, the car hit the guy and apparently crushed or sprained an ankle. He went down in the street and the stalkers left the scene.
Anyone else have more information on this? I had distractions while the piece was on.
I'm reminded of the Richard Jewell case. They had him ready for hanging at dawn, but suddenly dropped him like a hot potatoe. Then we learned that the FBI crime "lab" was being investigated for cooking evidence just as they were getting ready to cook evidence for Jewell. That investigation saved Jewell, but I've heard that the "lab" folks have been up to their old tricks lately.
We'll see.

Jimmeny Christmas on a pogo stick, they're still after that guy? What, do they think that evidence linking him will magically fall from the sky 2 years after it happened?
Wait, forget I said that.... :(
Jeez, and we pay these guys to do this.

Yeah - they think he did it because he is a leading expert on virii.
Nevermind that Anthrax is a bacterium.
That would be like suspecting one of the top IDPA guys of being the beltway sniper "because he is good with guns".

Buying groceries? Federal agents, drop the oranges!

But yet, Robert Muller (FBI Director) still doen't understand why the public so grossly mistrusts the Fibbies? ? ? ?
Let us spell it out for you, Director Mullet....
Your (Departments) involvement in Waco, TX
Your involvement in the Ruby Ridge Murders
The Richard Jewell Atlanta Olympics case
Robert Hanssen a 20 year Career Spy
All the lost guns and computers
Agent Connolly & his Supervisor Morris and their dealings with the "Mafia"
Anne Arrundel county shooting of the Wrong Person in the WRONG COLOR AND MODEL of car dur to a cel-phone tip from a known UNRELIABLE informant
Lies and coverups about TWA Flight 800
FBI agent blowing security at Louisville, KY airport on 8-11-02. Caused a 3-hour lockodown of said airport.
We could go on, but Director Mullet needs to clean up his own back yard.

What I want to know is why doesn't Dr. Hatfield own the federal government?
This whole story reminds me of the federal charlie foxtrots of Ruby Ridge, Waco, Atlanta bombing, TWA 800, OKC, and WTC I. Institutional incompetitence keeps getting deeper and deeper. Can't blame Meuller. Appointed by Clintoon, kept in the job by Bush. The fact that Meuller is still there is Bush's responsibility.

I guess The Chase heated up again after the discovery a couple of weeks ago in a pond near Hatfield's house of a device that could enable somebody to manipulate toxic substances underwater without personal risk.
Still, running the guy down in the street does seem a bit too summary...

Could someone please post a link to this story? I've checked the Fox News and CNN Web sites, and can't find it.

Dr. Steven Hatfill. Nothing on the web that I can find about the FBI running him down with their car.
Guy worked for the company I now work for.
Read a VERY interesting and quite frightening book over the weekend "The Demon in the Freezer."
If you haven't read it, I highly suggest that you do so.

There is the small possibility that this guy is actually connected to the anthrax cases and giving up on him now could prove disastrous in the future.

Well, Hatfill had access to many different strains of Anthrax through his job with AMRIID. He knows how to make it, he knows how to weaponize it, etc. The strain used SEEMS to be a strain to which he had regular access.
Supposedly there are numberous "discrepancies" in Dr. Hatfill's resume, as well, things like for whom he worked, where he worked, his educational background, etc.
There's some very solid reasons why this guy is a "person of interest."
There's also some very solid reasons as to why there are a LOT of other people who are also extremely viable "persons of interest" both inside and outside of the Federal Government.
There's also some very solid indications that FBI has completely screwed this investigation.

Isn't the point of a tail, to be effective, to do so surreptitiously, so the suspect leads you to evidence and additional suspects?
Oh, and about Robt. Hansen. The FBI harrassed a CIA agent for over 2 years w/ minimal cause and despite obvious clues he wasn't their man until Hansen was finally nabbed. They didn't apologize either.

Anthrax'Person of Interest' Hit by Car
By CURT ANDERSON
Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A scientist identified as "a person of interest" in the investigation of the deadly anthrax attacks was slightly injured in a traffic incident involving a federal agent who was following him.
Dr. Steven J. Hatfill suffered a bruised foot and abrasions after the incident Saturday but wound up getting a ticket for "walking to create hazard" that carries a $5 fine, according to a copy of the citation provided Monday by Washington police.
Pat Clawson, Hatfill's friend and spokesman, blamed the incident on "harassment" by FBI agents and other federal officers who are watching Hatfill around the clock and tail him when he leaves his Washington home.
FBI officials confirmed Monday that the incident occurred but declined to comment further.
Hatfill, a physician and bioterrorism expert, has been described as "a person of interest" by Attorney General John Ashcroft in the October 2001 anthrax attacks that killed five people and sickened 13 others. Hatfill has denied any involvement.
According to Clawson, Hatfill and his girlfriend were driving to the Georgetown section of Washington while being followed by several vehicles. A green sport utility vehicle was following especially closely, Clawson said.
Shortly before 4:30 p.m., Hatfill's car pulled into a parking spot on the street and Hatfill got out with a camera to take photos of those trailing him. Hatfill told officers the driver of the green SUV "had been recording his movements all day when he decided to take a picture back," according to the police report.
The driver of the green SUV then drove off, striking Hatfill, the reports said.
Hatfill did not seek hospital treatment and refused attention from paramedics at the scene. Washington police issued the ticket to Hatfill for walking in the street while attempting to take the photo.
Clawson said Hatfill is growing increasingly upset at the close scrutiny.
"Steve Hatfill has cooperated 100 percent with the FBI from day one," Clawson said. "If they have evidence that Steve Hatfill has broken the law, they should charge him, or they should clear him."
The FBI is considering draining a pond in Frederick, Md., where a plastic box and lab equipment were found that some investigators believe might have been used to pack the anthrax into envelopes that then were mailed.
Hatfill formerly worked as a researcher at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at nearby Fort Detrick and lived at an apartment complex in Frederick several miles from the pond.

In all fairness, I've heard Muller is making big changes at FBI and a lot of local police are feeling better about them. I don't know if it's true, but he may be just as exasperated about this as we are.
Can't wait to hear G. Gordon Liddy's opinion on this tonight.

Sounds like the govt at work. Hit the guy with their vehicle and then ticket the victim. :banghead:
Wow, never ceases to amaze me.
