You are shooting the next summer blockbuster. What gun does your hero carry and why? What does the head bad guy have? How about the goons? Explain your decisions.

The good guy has a steyr...because they need some screen time....a little advertisement neve hurts.
The main bag guy carries a desert eagle, because they look evil.
The goons carry HiPoints...because I dont want my good guy actually getting shot.:neener:

Berettas and Desert Eagles have ruled the screen for so long for a reason. They're big, they show up well on camera, and have distinctive, cool looking appearaces.
I like both pistols, so both might make it in there, though deployed more realistically (I'm assuming it's more challenging to rapid-fire a .50AE than it is to do so with a 9x19mm).
In any case, what the villain carries depends on what kind of scoundrel he is.
-The loud, crude, boisterous American type: Desert Eagle, chrome or Gold. Large revolver, or some other overlarge hand cannon.
-The snooty, well read, pompus Euro-villain: HK P7, PPK, or some other small european piece. Preferably either stainless or nickeled with Gold accents; nothing more powerful than 9mm.
-The faceless, suit-wearing goons of the bad guy organization: Some kind of ubiquous 9mm pistol, like the Glock 17. Maybe a .40.
-M.I.B.s: Enhanced, suit wearing baddies with special abilities (maybe they're cyborgs, or are super-strong/skilled for some other reason, ala Agents in The Matrix). These guys can pack a larger, more noticable pistol, and fire it as if it had no recoil. They're enhanced, after all. Desert Eagle, racegun of some sort, etc.
-The Tac Guys: Security Guys of the Bad Guy Organization. They wear black BDUs, body armor, tac vests, maybe balaclavas and/or kevlar helmets, etc. (In other words, Mall Ninjas.) They carry 9mm SMGs with 9mm pistols as backup. Some will have AR-15s and Benelli shotguns. MP5s are good SMGs for them to have.
-The Terrorists: less refined, more crude, less well trained. Uzis, AK-47s, MAC-10s.
-The Renegade Government Agent: Disaffected US government type. Carries a Sig.

My hero, based on me, of course, but better looking, more skilled, etc., would have similar tastes. A CZ-97, a .41 Mag revolver, and a FAL.

Easy. They will carry whatever the highest bidding gun company wants them to carry. As arinvolvo stated, a little advertisement never hurts.

I always find it proper for the hero to have a beretta 92 and the villain to have a chrome Hk p7. Guess its the result of being an 80's child. :D

Hero: Two 93R's! (deja vu :scrutiny: ) The cool factor would be unbelievable
BG: HyPoint 9mm :D (Don't want them to have a real gun  )

I'd like to see a movie where the Hero is a vigilante clown and conceals 2 MP5Ks inside a pair of oversized clown pants. He could also have special guns hidden in his big red shoes, and a gun on his lapel shaped like a flower.
The antagonist would be the bearded lady. She would have a never ending supply of Derringers, pepper boxes and other assorted mouse guns concealed in her beard. (NY reloads all day long)!!!

The good guys and the bad guys get to use the same weapons, but the good guys win because it's a movie.

Simply, Isn't Beretta the firearm of choice in Hollywood?

Due to the relative ease of blank-adapting it, yes.
Plus, it's pretty reliable at feeding crimped blanks, (after all, it's not too dramatic to have an actor dive forward trying to clear a FTF in each hand. :D )

He doesn't carry a gun.
He carries a walkie talkie.
It's a movie directed by Speilblurg...

Reminds me of that South Park episode where they show a clip of the beach scene from Saving Private Ryan where Speilburg had all the guns replaced with walkie talkies! :D :D
