Got a Taurus Tracker in 44 mag a few months ago. It probably has 100 rounds through it. It has developed a bad habit of not setting off the rounds. It doesnt fail on all rounds it is maybe one or two rounds a cylinder, and sometime it sets off all five.

It has been Winchester White Box. I look for firing pin strikes on the ammo that doesnt fire, but I dont see any. I am not a revolver guy. The gun has been cleaned since I go it but the cleaning did not make a difference.Any speculation as to the problem. I know I can send it back but this will take weeks. I thought it might be simple problem iIwould pay to get it fixed rather than sending it back.

If the rounds that didn't fire have no firing pin marks on them, then I would suspect a possible timing issue where the cylinder wasn't aligned correctly with the round. I suppose it is also possible the cylinder unlocked under recoil and rotated back or forward a chamber. Or it could be the hammer is locking up somehow and not falling all the way.

Next time you're at the range, try pulling the trigger back hard and fast. I had one with a short transfer bar, and if I didn't follow through with the trigger once the hammer fell, it would often fail to set off the round (because the transfer bar was not quite all the way up). I did usually see light primer strikes, though. Just an idea FWIW.

I sent it in and got it back in about 3 weeks, and it's now 100%. Good luck with your problem.

Hopefully somebody didnt try the "homemade trigger job" by screwing around with the stress spring:uhoh: . Sure it makes for a far easier trigger pull but if not done properly results in habitual light strikes. Easily remedied by tightening the spring 1/8-1/4 turn at a time.
Good luck with it
Cheers:)

** I just realized that your model may not be one of the older versions with the stress spring. I dont think Taurus uses that system anymore..Sorry for the misinformation. My bad
