4566TSW any good?

I'm looking for a mid-priced .45 that is going to last. Are the 4566TSW models any good? I'd like at least 8-round capacity with a mid to large frame and lots of durability.

What makes the TSW so tactical? Do these have the same innards are the other S&W autos?

The Tactical line contains a barrel with a fixed barrel bushing and it is housed in a frame and slide that feature larger, reconfigured rails for greater stability and durability. The full length rails on the frames and slides feature tighter tolerances for increased accuracy. Accuracy is also enhanced by a tighter lock up and longer unlocking delay. The delayed-unlock firing system produces less "felt" recoil and enables a shooter to return to the target quicker. Consequentially, TSW pistol will shoot more accurately and with less kick than it's non-TSW sibling.

The light rail is not meant to be easily removed.

Well...Alan, you read just like the S&W catalog. The TSW does have some advantages over the regular 3rd gen guns....a tad tighter fit and supposedly faster lockup etc.....
The new ones dont come with the light rail....which is very nice.
Ive seen the light rail taken off and makes for a nicer gun.....

I'm confused, the S&W web site shows the rail in the picture.

Do the new ones have a rail or not? Is that Why CDNN had ones for sale as they were close-outs? How easy is it to pull the rail?

Should I just get a Ruger P-97 and quit fussing?

The new TSW pistols come with the light rail. The first TSW pistols did not.

I'm very pleased with my non-rail 4013TSW. I do wish that they would have made it a single-stack, 8+1 rather than a 9+1 double stack. I guess I'll have to buy a 7+1 model 4040PD

When I was considering a .45 I rented one (w/out rail) and a few other .45s. All the others were full size guns (glock21, 1911, ruger, USP). I shot the best w/ the USP and the S&W. I was very surprised by how little felt recoil it had compared to the full size guns. If I ever get a .45, it'll probably be the TSW or a 4506.

I was in the market for the 4506 until I read about the TSW differences. I really don't like the light rail but if the newer TSW model, the 4566 TSW in particular has a tighter lock-up, beefier design and more accurate then it interests me despite the light rails.

Does the 4506 have a barrel bushing like the 4566 TSW? I'm willing to put up with the rails if I can get a better designed and more accurate pistol with the 4566 TSW.

Also, does it come with the trigger guard lock? I noticed some S&W autos have that damn trigger guard lock below the trigger , but I don't see any in the picture.

Also, is that a 10 round mag or just an 8 rounder not seated all way in the picture?

Also, California DOJ has both the 4566 non TSW and TSW models listed and even the 4506. Though I know that there is a 4506-1 version out there so I'm not sure which one the CA DOJ has approved since they usually approve the latest design. Are the 4566 TSW still in the first engineering production without any dashes yet?

Does the 4566 non TSW not have the enhancements of the TSW version?

Would you recommend the 4566 TSW over the 4506 or P220ST?

I want something accurate, reliable, and durable.

I just picked up a 4566 with a non spurred hammer.Is anyone aware if these came from the factory with this type of hammer? The hammer is flush with the frame when in the down(fire) position.
