Century Arms is selling the "Shooter's Arms" line of pistols and they claim to be revamped from the previous versions. They are an extremely nice price also.

Has anyone had any experience with these pistols and can give me some idea if they are worth taking a chance on for a first 1911 style pistol?

Thanks!!

You have to have a FFL on file with Century Arms and they give you access to the prices.

I know the pricing structure for these guns....cant tell. Bad Karhma...
But, I would like to know something?????
I played with a blued commander model the other day..and the slide to frame fit was almost as bad as the barrel lock up was....it wasnt.
Are they all like this? Who has one and can tell us?????????
Shoot well

I wonder if that Blued Commander is one of the ones before the "Revamp from ground up"?

The price is right. About $269.00

But then again, you could have a RIA for not much more and there is no gamble involved.

Go over to the 1911 forums and do a search. IIRC the reports are not good prior to the "revamping". Some guys had their pistols come in pre-rusted. Now I am all for manufacturers breaking them in before shipping, but not that much!

I actually own and shoot a SAM "combat grade" which is closest to the "elite" model that they have now.I have only put Wolf FMJ 230's through it,but it has NEVER had a single malfunction. When im done with this 500 round case ill no doubt try other ammo including a box of HP's just to see if they work. The fit on mine is great and the finish is beautiful although the frame and slide are slightly different shades.A friend thinks its cool looking.Im indifferent.

Thirty years ago, I was doing some serious Drag Racing up and down the West Coast. We were a bucks down operation but we burned the midnight oil and shut down a lot of big names.

After a few years, we could see that cubic money beat cubic inches anyday. One comment that I remember real well, came from a very knowledgeable engine and chassis builder.

He said "Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?"

Nothing has changed. You only get what you pay for and there ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

You get what you pay for only works as long as you dont take labor and the cost of fighting off hoardes of lawyers into account.Guns made overseas can be every bit as nice as any gun made in the USA (or not as in Springfield 1911's) but they are cheaper because of substantially reduced labor costs.
