I discovered something interesting about my P229, 9mm, SigSauer OEM magazine and a Mec-Gar magazine. The stock mag I bought two years ago from Sig is on the left. Made in Germany. The aftermarket Mec-Gar is on the right and was recently purchased. It's made in Italy. Both are 10 round capacity. Only the OEM holds 9 rounds. You have to really force a tenth round, and most of the time it can't be done without denting the case with a hand loader. The Mec-Gar loads 10 rounds without the slightest problem. Both do function perfectly. Something else I noticed, is the obvious design difference of the floorplates. They are not angled the same. Also, at the top, the feeder and the cutout are shaped different. Not sure if any other Sig owners have had max number of rounds loading problems with the OEM, but I wanted to pass this along for informational purposes. One final thought. If SigSauer uses Mec-Gar for OEM, why the obvious difference in these two magazine styles?
