I saw a mini/short .40 SW-99 at the local range today, and it is kinda interesting. I'm considering a short SW-99 in 9mm, an XD-Sub 9 or Glock 26.
The XD feels good in my hand, I rented one and it shoots extremely well; I was more accurate than the time I spent with a Glock 26, though I may give it another chance. Looks-wise, the Glock and the XD to me are almost the same. The SW-99 mini/shorty/whatever looks the best though.
How's it shoot?

It's a SW99 Compact here are the S&W details (http://www.smith-wesson.com/DealersOnly/pdf/ModelSW99Compact.pdf)
Don't believe everything you hear in a shop. :)
Looks like a P22 with attitude.

Wow...that's pretty darn thin compared to other subcompacts. I believe the XD-9 is something like an inch and a quarter. All the "Baby Glocks" are thicker than an inch too.

29mm
Which translates into 1.14 inches. This compared to a Glock 19 or 23 which measure 1.18 inches.

Had one just traded for the P245. I liked it better than than the Glock seemed a bit more narrow. I did like the interchangeable backstrap of which there are two a flat ugly one as pictured above, and a nicely curved one. Different front sights. It also came with a flush fit mag and an extended mag, nice touch. The thing I really like better than the Glock is the initial trigger pull is very deliberate, nice if your gonna carry this in your pocket. It recoils about like a G27. Finally, the trigger is superfast in SA mode, quick double taps. I would probably get the 9mm next time. I think it is the best for these subcompacts with respect to controllablility. Good luck, overall I give it a thumbs up. P.S. but I would still rather have it as a Walther P99.:)
