Im looking for a 1911, basic style, single stack, full size... But I want it in a .40 s&w. Brass is free, already have all the reloading stuff. I also think it would be neat... Only guns I have come across are the Paracrap and a Kimber aluminum frame carry gun... Any help?

I'm pretty sure the .40 Taurus isn't available yet.
In fact, I'm almost certain the only Taurus 1911 available at the moment is the blued, .45ACP.

I second the STI vote. They define the genre.

"Only guns I have come across are the Paracrap..."
I've shot a Para P16-40 in uspsa Limited for a few years now with well over 10k rounds downrange. I love my Para and it is far far from a peice of crap. In fact, I spent twice as much for an STI that 3 weeks after receiving it broke on the final stage of the Florida State Championship...2 days of shooting, doing well for my class and then this brand new state of the art EDGE breaks. I had it repaired and gave it to my son and I took his Para...won't ever go back. So, I don't know why you think Para's are crap but mine certainly isn't, either are the paras a bunch of other guys shoot in my club.

ha ha ha ha aha ha... NOT
Para makes a great 1911. I cant comment on their .40's, but their 45 are great. I had a plain-jane P14 that was dead on accurate and rock sollid and a nice P13 that was the same. I sold the to buy other 1911s that I thought were better, but were not, just more expensive. Perhaps your problems with Para are a result of the caliber... Silly girly man, 1911s are for 45s, if you want a 40 get a glok.... He he heh ehe eh e:D

so what, do like i am gonna do and buy it when it does come out. i don't think that he needs this gun asap.

crap? :scrutiny: i don't agree, my dad has a para but in 45 and it is a great shooting little gun, to bad he dosen't shoot it much any more. it really sits in the safe the majority of the time, if i was a .45 shooter I would buy it off of him.

para ordinance makes me angry with their ugly wide grips. ive never owned one so I guess i cant judge them quality wise. if they made a single stack .40 I'd prob be interested. I dont hear much about them, they don't seem very popular. and BTW i can get .40 brass free, this is my main reason for the caliber choice. people fight over the .45 stuff at our range.

I shoot the PO 16-40 - the grip is wide but the gun shoots well and functions reliably. I also have a Dan Wesson Pointman in 40 S&W which is an excellent gun, equipped with adjustable white outline sights and a full length rib.

I'm just letting him know. Maybe he does want to buy a gun in the near future.
Calm down...

Maybe the new Springfield EMP will be offered in .40SW. If it becomes available, I'll buy one.
I own a Kimber Pro Carry .40SW. I've had it for about five years and I love it. But, it is a 1911 designed to handle the .45 length cartridge, not the shorter .40SW. The magazines that I use are 10mm mags so they are a little longer than the .40 cartridge. They run just fine in my gun, but I would like to have mags, and the gun frame, to be built for the shorter .40 cartridge, hence my desire to get an EMP when offered in .40SW.
Overall, I like my Kimber. I have had no problems with the aluminum frame or any other part. It hasn't been 100% reliable (no gun I have has been) but it works well for me. It's light, accurate, and works well for me.
edited to add: The mags I use hold 9 rounds: Chip McCormick Shooting Star mags.

"Paracrap"?
Its juvenile statements like these that will start to give you a bad reputation on this board, be careful.
As far as "Paracrap" goes, I trusted my like to a Para P10-.40 which was my CWC piece for a while.
Smallest "Paracrap" model, never a hiccup or failure of any kind in well over 3500 rounds.
Try to keep an open mind when it comes to firearms, especially since you have never owned one, and you might surprise yourself.

Please read the entire thread. Your followup flame was not necessary. I have no comments on Para's quality, just venting my gripe with the oversized grips.
