Just been in the local gunshop and he's got brand new Escort 12g 8-shot semi's in stock, either black or cammo finish for £295.
Receiver is dove-tailed for a scope/red-dot and makes for quite a tidy package.
This is 'buttons' for a new shotgun over here, has anyone got experience with this brand?

Until someone with more personal experience comes along I guess I will throw in the 2 cents worth I think I know.

The Escort I believe is made in Turkey ? It is on the low end of the price scale here in the states being sold for $160 - $200 in the local gun shops.

It has an alloy receiver and stamped parts that fit a bit loose but the overall design is not bad. It is a cheap gun that looks to be servicable ,but I will let those who have bought and used them comment on that.

Yes it is made in Turkey, I think in the new Webley factory.

They are made in Turkey by Hatsan.

They are good quality for the price and are quite usable. I've used a three-shot synthetic version (12 bore semi-auto) and it was nice and light and functioned well. I've not heard any horror stories about them which is always a good sign.

It should make a good practical shotgun (I assume that's what you want it for since you're looking at an 8-shot).

I worked at Dunham's Sports for a bit. They sell a black synthetic pump combo for $239.99 that includes a cylinder bore 20" barrel and an interchangable choke 28" barrel; 3" chamber; 3 chokes (full, modified, improved cylinder); machined aluminum receiver; receiver machined to receive rings for optics mounting; a spare magazine follower (more on this later); sling mounts; full chrome lined barrels; plug; etc.

I picked one up and owned it for a short time...here's my observations:

quick, short, smooth pump action; chrome lined barrels makes cleaning easier (except for impacted lead from rifled slugs); decent to good quality for the price and country of origin (Turkey...remember the Stoeger {pump & gas auto} and Charles Daly {pump & gas autos} brands are also made in Turkey); I sold mine because I wanted a Mossberg hunting combo;

areas to watch for:

getting the plug out and back in is a bitch due to the spring metal plug at the end of the magazine tube;

do not let the magazine follower get in contact with any kind of cleaning chemicals...the plastic cannot resist and will warp and become useless (hence the spare they send with the shotguns)...clean with gun oil and rub the excess powder residue off...you may not get it fully cleaned off, just good enough to function;

the trigger guard is only painted and the paint can come off when the trigger group is taken in and out of the receiver to initiate cleaning; if you worry about 'aesthetics' get some black automotive touch-up paint and keep it handy

hope this helps...

Just bought a 2nd hand Escort today, tried it this afternoon,1st impressions-GREAT. Read on a web page about a screw adjustment to be used when going from normal load cartridges to 3in magnums. I cant find any screw adjustment on this gun. Any help or advise will be gratefully received.
