Ok guys, I'm new to all this hangun stuff after years of hunting with rifles and shotguns I actually got an corporate/ executive protection job and have since been issued a Glock 19/9mm. I'm planning on buying me one of these for my home as well. I love this gun. My question is, I am looking to carry a second gun on one of my ankles. I'd like it to be small yet still have takedown power. What would you guys recomend? Which Glock?

Well for ankle carry your pretty much limited to the sub-compact models. And since you already shoot a G19 in 9mm, you might as well choose something that shoots 9mm as well. In that case, the G26 would be a perfect choice.

G26 is a good idea as you can use the G19 mags in the G26.

The only Glock that would work well for ankle would be a 26 (which would take your G19 magazines as well). However, I still think a J-Frame would be a better ankle option. Of course, I think you should consider carrying in maybe a vest holster or shoulder holster rather than ankle. For these positions, a G26 would work well.

this i exactly what I was gonna suggest, remember keep it simple, plus, the 26 being a smaller gun, 9mm would be optimum well at least for me anyway, it controling the recoil and not getting away from you.

Definitely the G26. That way, you only have to carry G19 spare mags, since they work in both guns.

Both the G19 and G26 can also use the longer G17 and G18 mags (17 and 33 rounds, respectively; the G18 is the Glock machine pistol version of the G17).

The nice thing about the Glock 26 is that it shoots just like the bigger Glocks. Everything is the same except for size, so practice with the G19 makes you more proficient with the G26 as well.

You do not have to give up your Glock 19 and switch to a smaller weapon for ankle carry.

Lou Alessi makes his ankle Rig for the Glock 19. I've had one for years, used both professionally and personally, and it is VERY comfortable to wear and retains the weapon VERY securely. I'm not a huge guy, 6'1", 200, and I can carry the 19 with a 17 mag and conceal it under a suit or jeans.

I carry a 27 (40 s/w) on my ankle. I prefer the .40 over the 9mm. However, since you already have a 19 you should go with a 26.

I think they're $140-150 these days. But, you won't find a more comfortable ankle holster anywhere.

I like it as it lets me carry my 19 without having to resort to mini-grip weapons.

If you are gonna carry the ankle gun on duty paired with your G19 then the choice is simple, G26. You know though If you don't have a pile of money laying around and you want to get it right the first time you might want to pick out an ankle holster first. That Lou Allessi rig is probably a gret way to go. Buy the rig and try it with your issued gun. If you feel that it is a little large then buy the G26, it will fit in the same holster. If you choose to buy the 26 first just get a couple of the extended Mags and you can carry it it as your primary while off duty until you can afford the 19.
