OK folks; please don’t laugh at this question. It is sort of gun related, at least NRA related. My wife and I are planning on attending an NRA banquet at the Red Lion Inn in Pocatello, Idaho tomorrow night. We’ve never been to a NRA banquet before and don’t know how to dress. Is it likely to be formal, semi-formal, or would just a sports shirt and jeans be okay? We’d really appreciate some advice from some of you who have attended these affairs before.
We’re looking forward to the banquet. We’ve been told that the guest speaker is the new president of Idaho State University. To us, that sounds kind of interesting if not downright refreshing – a speech by the president of one of the largest academic institutions in the state, and he’s obviously pro RKBA and NRA to boot.

Just had one here in our town and attendees were very casual--everything from work and dress western (black Wranglers and white shirt) to aloha shirts for men and equivalent for ladies. Auctioneer looked like he was ready to fire a SASS stage.
Went to one in Anchorage, Alaska, and saw everything from work Carhartts to coats and ties.
Dress comfortably--there's usually good food involved--and bring lots of $.

Casual, jeans and a nice shirt are fine and won't be out of place.
Bring $, always interesting things to buy.
ti's a fun time, I went to my first one earlier this year, it was a hoot.

Take more money than you think you'll need. Dress has been covered above. I'm assuming that this is a Friends of the NRA dinner? If so, remember that anything you pay more than market value for should be a tax deduction.

They should have a live action, silent auction, bucket drawings and a few games. Lots of fun.

I may be a little biased, as I chair one of these dinners locally.

Thanks guys . I was hoping for casual. And thanks for the heads up - we will take extra money for the auctions and such. I don't know about that "Friend's Of The NRA Dinner" thing, but I guess it is. I do know one of the door prizes is a beautiful Freedom Arms .41 Magnum revolver. Our favorite gun dealer donated it.:)
