Unfortunately due to space constraints its difficult to have more than one shotgun. I have a 20" ic parkerized 870 police magnum and would like to get a field barrel. The way it is set up now, it is great for around the house, deer, and short range small game. My only problem is a cosmetic one as I can easily get an express or wingmaster barrel, but the finish just doesnt match and this drives me nuts.
Does anyone have a suggestion for me? Is remington open to putting a parkerized finish on a nice longer field barrel? If not, what would match the finish of my shotgun the best?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Let me get this straight - you are looking for a bird barrel that is parkerized?

Look around. They should not be hard to find. I have two 870's and they both came with parkerized bird barrels. You should be able to contact Remington and order one.

Take a look at the older 870SP barrels as they are parkerized. The barrels were made in two lengths, 26" and 30", and both barrels are Rem-Choked. I have an 870SP with the 26" barrel and the oil-finished stock, and it really is a matte-finished Wingmaster.
I believe both barrel lengths are still available from Remington.

Thanks for the help, but still have a couple things that need clarification as I guess I'm a bit confused.
1) Is the matte finish on the express barrels the same as the parkerized finish on the police model? Do they actually make parkerized barrels or just the matte ones? I have heard lots of stories with the express finish rusting, but havent had any issues with the parkerized finish.
2) From what I have read, if I am not mistaken, I thought the special purpose barrels only fit on special purpose receivers and are not interchangable with the other 870's. Is this correct?

1) Is the matte finish on the express barrels the same as the parkerized finish on the police model? No, the Express finish is not parkerized; it is a matte bluing.
Do they actually make parkerized barrels or just the matte ones? Yes, the 870SP barrels are parkerized. My 870SP is parkerized as is my 870P.
2) From what I have read, if I am not mistaken, I thought the special purpose barrels only fit on special purpose receivers and are not interchangable with the other 870's. Is this correct? No, the SP barrels are interchangeable with and fit on regular 870 receivers. The Special Field barrels are not compatible with regular 870 receivers due to the difference in magazine tube lengths.

You could also check ebay as they have many barrels and stocks for the Rem shotguns.

Yep, you want to find an 870 Special Purpose (SP) barrel, if you want the finish to match. Even parkerizing is going to vary some in color from batch to batch however, so be forewarned.
