What kind of primers are used for 10mm auto, and what are the best brands?

Large Pistol primers...

Some people use magnum, and there are some good loads on the plastic gun forum for those, but i personally don't like to stray too far away from the book.
I use CCI and never had a problem. No particular reason i picked CCI, and I have no particular reason to switch.

I've also used CCI Large Pistol primers, no problems in my Delta Elite.

Any of the Large Pistol primers will work for the 10mm. I use Winchester LP for my loads and they work just fine. I've got five handguns in this caliber, and they all work great with standard primers.

My favorite powders in this caliber are Blue Dot, AA-9 and HS-7. With 180 and 200 grain bullets, IMR 800X will give the fastest velocities, with the lowest pressures, but it meters like corn flakes. Unless you're willing to weigh each load, it's not worth the effort, in my opinion, though I have made up some loads with it which are impressive.

Hope this helps.

I use Winchester because they will light off ball powder and will still work with standard powders. Blue Dot is very similar to 800X and gives excellent velocities with zero case bulge in Starline cases. I think Blue Dot meters a little easier.

Blue Dot does meter easier, but it's more temperature sensitive. It also has a tendency to spike pressures when you reach maximum, whereas 800X doesn't. The 800X works at lower pressures for the same delivered velocity, but it's a pain in the neck to meter. I load most of my 10mm with AA-9 and HS-7 (WW 571). I also stick with the heavier bullets in this caliber.

Hope this helps.
