I'm no gunsmith but...

Am I really doing this to a $750+ pistol?

And it'll never be the same:

Material left to go:

Cut:

Blended:

Sanded smooth:

Blued:

So far I really like it but my slimline grips with a bobtail cut have not arrived. I would've blended in my nice wood grips but I wanted slimmer grips as well. I used the Ed Brown jig as seen in photos.

Awesome job. I have an Ed Brown Kobra Carry, and it's a great feature for a concealed carry gun. You will like it.

I have had it done to mine and it is my absolute favorite fireaarm now, my BBQ gun. My #1 carry gun. See it at www.ontargetcgw.com , select "1911 Gallery" then "Smith & Wesson Bobtail."

It's actually seeing your pistol over on 1911forum that convinced me to do this. I wanted one for a while and after seeing it on a pistol identical to mine I had to have it.

Yup that's it. I just went with blue and checkered to match the rest of the pistol. I can blue but I cannot bead blast so a blued finish was easier for me to work with.
I cannot wait for the grips to arrive.

I am almost half way through my 1000 round break in of my DW CBOB and have really been impressed. That little bob makes a big in the grip quality - I can't imagine being w/o it now :D You're gonna really like it ;)

My Alumagrips finally arrived. They are slim and bobtail cut. As you can see the grips are about the same thickness as the slide. Unfortunately they only came with 3 screws-I have to make an email to Chris@Alumagrips to get some more. I chose Alumagrips because they are really thin and their profile is something you can't obtain with wood (if you want durability).
