Going rate for a 5" 610?

Hi all. I'm in the market for an N-frame IPSC revolver, and was leaning towards the 625 (the BIG revolver for this division, at least in my area). However, I see that there's also a 610 available out there, and that it shoots 40 S&W just fine, which would make major AND add one less calibre to my current line-up. Does anyone know what a used (good condition) 5" 610 can be expected to sell for? (I can't get the 4" or shorter versions, because our benevolent dictatorship has decided that we can't be trusted with handguns that have a barrel shorter than 106mm/~ 4 1/4".)

Five inch 610 (product code 103578) was only produced in 90' thru 92'. Limited numbers and in the hands of mostly collectors. Best stick to your original inclinations and get the 625. Its not a difficult product to find in Canada (and quickest to go have fun!).

When I see them, which is once in a blue moon, they're over $600.

I don't know what the product code is but the 'Model of 1988' and 'Model of 1989' were all made with 5" barrels. These were the first two years that they were produced. 1988 had a ramped front sight and 1989 had a partridge front sight, or vice versa.

A 5-inch M610 should sell for $450-$550 US depending upon condition. Enjoy!

Don't forget the very interesting S&W 646 - a very limited production run gun, chambered in .40 S&W, with a titanium cylinder. It's on the L frame, and is the same size as the 4" 686. I've got one of these, and am very impressed. There are still a few available from very limited sources - I know that Chattanooga Shooting Supply has a couple (1-800-251-4808). There was a recent discussion about them here (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?threadid=69522).

Maybe it "should", but good luck in finding a 5 incher for that price. You will be lucky to see more than a few on the market and they bring $600 to $700.

I shot a 6.5 inch 610 in USPSA revolver division for a season. My personal preference is the longer barrel but of course you need to go with what you like the best. The 610, even when chamfered, is a bit slower to reload, but it's still a pretty good bet for IPSC. Good luck.
