Where can I buy some 38 special snake shot with Acorn tip, on-line? I recently bought a derringer to carry in my pocket while hunting and I want to use it to kill snakes.
The regular blue plastic tip 38 x 457 snake shot wont fit, because my barrels have a sleeve about halfway up. A local gun dealer told me to try to find snake shot with the crimped "acorn" style tips. My gun is double shot Cobra 38, manufactured in Salt Lake City, Utah. Thanks.

Welcome to THR.
Sorry, that I can't help with the snake shot question.

I normally hear these referred to as "rose crimped" shotshells, but I don't think they've been made in anything but 22 LR for a LONG time; if you were a reloader, I'd suggest making your own shotshells with a top-wad.

I think the CCi shot shells with the blue capsules are the only ones currently being made.

Thanks for the information. I' guess I should search the Internet under crimp, rose crimp, star crimp, etc. I'll also ask my father-in-law, who is a hand loader, whether he can fix me up. The blue ones are "38 X 357", not "38 X 457"
