Nice one!
I wonder what happened to his antlers on the left side? Did he have any gouges or anything over there in his hide?

Nice! They don't make deer that heavy in Texas. ROFL! I've shot mulies in the 200+ range, but not whitetail, not down here. I guess the heat stunts their growth or something.
We had fried tenderloin last night. Yummy. :)

Thanks to you both . Card, no, he had no hide damage besides the .30 caliber hole going in and the .80 caliber hole going out . Antler tines usually are broken off in fights with other bucks. Even his 1 brow tine was off at the tip on the right side . FWIW, he measured 18 1/2 " outside spread. Mcgunner, I think diet makes a huge difference in our deer getting not only the size they do, but quality on the table too. Note he is in a corn field. Summer days here are often over 100 degrees and just 3 days before I took him it was 84. Being grain fed is key . Thanks again guys and best of luck in your hunts.

Nice buck.
I noticed you have no scope on your rifle but what appears to be a peep sight on the rear of the receiver. Outstanding :D

You ain't no deer hunter! Peep sights, orange cap and red and white shirt and blue jeans? Where's your scope and camo?:)
Maybe if I kill a big buck and a couple of pigs I'll get 195 lbs field dressed. Good job.

Rhubarb, thanks for the pun and kind words. FWIW, I had been wearing coveralls too and a sweatshirt under them and an orange 1 over the coveralls as it was a perfect 25 degrees at dawn. I just strip down to do my field doctoring. The shirt is my " lucky " one and It was on me when I took a buck a few years ago that had a rack that put this 1 to shame.

Congratulations!
I spent much of my youth in and around Clay County NE and worked some around Hastings. Nicest folks you could find are in rural Nebraska.
The midwest corn belt produces some bruiser bucks. Too bad, none of them here in Illinois though- best hunting is Iowa and Nebraska. So anybody considering a trophy whitetail hunt, don't waste your time East of the Mississippi river.
Yep, lots of nice corn-country bucks out there...

Thanks Nathanael, & Kingcreek . Since you know the area, this guy was harvested a few miles north of Blue Hill, which is just west of Clay County . ( I've had several deer processed in Fairfield ). Especially with some of the tines broke off , his rack certainly is not overly impressive, but the fact that I took him in an unlikely area on a friend's farm , and the buck's size make him special to me. He is my heaviest of the 22 head I've been blessed to take.
