P245 vs. G36

Some time ago I posed this same question before my purchase. So, to save you the trouble here are my experiences. The Sig P245 is slimmer in the slide about 23mm. The grip is fatter at about 32mm- Sig needs to offer a flatter smaller grip for this thing! The Sig is way more accurate. Double taps are kinda awkward in the Sig, guess this will come with time. Recoil is without a doubt softer than the G36. I shot 150 rounds without a problem. The Glock was pretty stout and pinched my pinky often. The Sig at first felt a bit weird, but each day it grows on me, especially after the range trip. Know this it brief, but hopefully will serve some.:)

Editted to extract foot from mouth.

Since you have a new P245, and I have come to the conclusion that poverty is my lot in life, I have a heck of a deal for you. PM me, and I will send you a slightly used factory mag for your SIG, free of charge. Forgot to throw it in the box when I traded mine.

I love the unbiased comparison.:scrutiny:

Between the two, the SIG.

You forgot to note that the G36 is a much lighter gun. It weighs loaded what the 245 weighs unloaded.

Seems like an odd comparison.

After all, the Sig P245 is a .45 ACP handgun and the HK G36 is a 5.56mm rifle. Given the choice, I'd take the rifle, even if it is a bit harder to conceal ;)

But I 'spose that wasn't what you meant by G36...

I hate to say this, but you made the right choice!! My Glock 36 lies in the safe, hobbled by a near fatal, mysterious jamming problem!!! :banghead: From what I have read, both here, and on GT, it seems to be common to the gun!!! Right now, I'm so P.O.ed that I'm in furgitaboutit mode!! :fire: I suppose that some day, I'll take it to a Glock Tech (It's not appropriate to call them "smiths" IMHO), and have it looked at.

I just bought a used P245. It fits my hand like a glove! It even feels better than my P225.:D

I had a SIG 220 and my brother has a G-36 and there is NO comparison! The SIG will shoot much better than the Glock in almost anyone's hands and it is much better made.

I had about 1200 rounds through it before I sold it because the trigger reach so too long for me. I had one stovepipe at about round 150 (break-in) and one time the slide failed to lock back on an empty mag. My brother's Glock has jammed at least 4 times for no apparent reason in about the same number of rounds. It also is inaccurate and pinches the pinky and because of the very light weight grip frame, it stings the palm of your hand like you just hit a tree with a 2x4.

I paid $600 for my 220 with night sights and he paid $525 for his G-36 with out night sights.

When I was shopping for a smaller CCW gun, I rented a NIB G36 at a local gun shop. The gun jammed 4 times out of 50rds. Not impressed. I didn't like the trigger either.

I ended up buying a Sig 239, but I would have picked up the Sig 245 if the price was right.

Vote Sig!
