As some of you have already heard I am racking my brains looking for a small revolver for my wife. She really liked the lady smith models of the smith and wesson 60 and 642, but the Smith & Wesson 640 is really a better fit for her after doing some thinking and getting some great responses from other members.

I thought that I would get the 640 and spruce up the grips with really nice grips that will make her think the gun is as pretty and appealing as the lady smith models. Can you guys give me some websites where I could find grips like this? Cost is not really an issue, but I would need them within 6 weeks from the time that I order.

THANKY YOU SO MUCH!!! :D

Try Ajax or Herrett.

Herrett's makes exactly what you need. Unfortunately, the wait at the moment is approximately three months.

Dunno the story at Ajax.

Find some Stag or Elk horn, they make for real pretty.

Check with executioner over at S&W forums

Dunno the story at Ajax.

The only thing I've ever bought from them was a pair of fake ivory grips for my Norinco M1911 (which look great). They came in under two weeks, as I recall.

Thanks guys, I looked around and called a few places. I called ajax and looked at herretts. Ajax is redesigning their grips so that wont work. But I found a place www.badgercustomgrips.com that makes exactly what I was looking for which was a rosewood grip, and they will laser engrave her initials into the grips with a great gold outline. So I think she will be thrilled :)

True custom stocks can take up to several months to get. Cost may not be much of an issue until you see some stocks can cost twice as much as the revolver.

Try Sidney L. Ryan Custom Engraving and Scrimshaw for a "pretty" set of J-frame grips for her 640.

Another choice for wooden J-frame grips, is the Bantam by Hogue. They are sold by Midway and you get choices of wood. There may be a wait depending on the choice.

Eagle grips has done a couple of Vaqueros for me. I am quite pleased. They are at www.eaglegrips.com . If you hurry, they have genuine Sambar stag available for a short time, since price is not an issue. Might find some mother of pearl grips to make purty, too.

I also use Badger grips on almost all my S&W revolvers.
I have not changed the grips on my 640 or my 617.
The 442, model 10, and model 60 have Badgers.
I also bought some for the 640. Have not put them on yet.

Eagle Secret Service grips look a lot like those Badger grips and you can get them fast since they have them in-stock. http://www.eaglegrips.com/secretservice.htm

How about a nice Hogue Monogrip in Cocobolo? They are beautiful. (www.getgrip.com). Eagle also makes some beautiful grips. I just got a pair of Eagles in buffalo horn, but they also have stag and elk, and very nice synthetic ivory. :D

There's a guy I know from another forum who makes some Wicked Grips. (www.wickedgrips.com) He started out specializing in 1911 grips but has started making other grips as well. He made me a really cool set for my Hi Power and has made sets for other members of that board.

I don't know if he makes revolver grips of not, but if you're still looking for grips, it'd probably be worth your time to drop him a line from his page. He does EXCELLENT work
