Greetings,

I'm debating taking the plunge and getting a set of Elk grips, since Sambar is still barred from collecting with no end in sight.

How does Elk compare? Is it a compromise in stability, or just in appearance?

How about Moose? Hso describes it as "thin and porous", but can it be stabilized my gripmakers?

The most affordable source seems to be the guy called "executioner" who posts here and on S&W Forum, anyone have an opinion on his products? Antler Crafts of Oregon made even more affordable ones, but the maker had a stroke, so his wife is just selling off the current stock on hand, mostly 1911 grips for around $60.

Thanks for any input,

-MV

I have bought two pair of grips from them, and they have some beautiful examples of Stag and American Elk on their website.

Here are a set that I bought. Patrick is a great guy. I am VERY Happy with this set. They are living on on a M64-5 right now with a T Grip and they look great.

I have five sets of Patrick's grips....all are great. I've got two pair on a set of .45 Colt Vaqueros and two pair on a set of .357 Vaqueros, and a set on a model 13 smith. All are well made with beautiful figure and grain. I'd recommend his work anytime.

Eagle's Elkhorn grips on my model 1917. Took about 3 months for them to be made so be prepared to wait if you order from them.
