I posted the bulk of this at the ruger forum in response to someone else's question. I thought THR members would like to see my experience with this little revolver as well.

My wife just picked up one of these for me for our 10th anniversary. We exchanged anniversary cards in hawaii and mine had a picture of the pistol in it. She had been struggling not to laugh and give the whole thing away on the flight over as I showed her the picture of this gun in one of the magazines I was reading and told her what a neat pistol I thought it was.

Back in Ohio she proudly presented me with my gift and asked if I was going to shoot it and I replied "well, if I leave it in the box, I'll have to get another .22 revolver to shoot." The response was negative and so off to the range I went with the little single-six and various types of ammo..

First off, let me say this gun surpassed my expectations for finish. I've owned blued rugers before, and the finish has always seemed "thin" for lack of a better word. This blue is deep and even, the grips a beautiful. As far as action, it is a little stiff, the trigger is somewhat heavy for a single action, but it is crisp and easy to get a suprise break--I'll probably leave it alone for several hundred rounds and see what happens.

At the range CCI bulk ammo printed 2.5 inch groups dead on for windage but about 2-3 inches low at 50'.

CCI maxi-mag .22 mag printed 3.5" groups and low.

The bright spot was some Rem. target rifle ammo from eley that fired into 1' with 2 fliers opening it to 1.5. Still Centered but 2" low

I'll need to test at 25 yards to see if I want to "adjust" the front sight.

Overall, this is a really neat .22 that I will keep forever and pass to my son when I can't shoot it anymore. I don't know if it will become collectible at some point, but I figure with the thought that my wife put into this gift, I know I'd never sell it anyway. So shooting the dickens out of it won't hurt it's value to me.

This might suplant my trailside as my favorite .22 to take plinking.

Congrats. I like mine a lot too; it is the regular new model super single six in 4" barrel.

I took mine apart (per the instructions in the manual) and cleaned all the protective grease, or whatever, out of it. Also dry lubed the sear and trigger parts. Trigger is much better now.
