I am very happy with the look and the warranty. I would like to ask you guys about performance wise, How does that compare to the other fine guns? How accurate is it? well i will find out next day or 2 when i go shooting. Cant wait. Does any gunsmith around do custom work for this particular gun? What should I upgrade on this one so I can get the best out of it? Thanx , guys here are really great.

Sure the guy could be a troll and that went through my mind as well but we can't be close minded to people who may very well just be new and or in-experienced shooters.
To answer the posters original question.
Most highpoints are held in low regard by the shooting community. Many feel they are not built very well, tend to be un-reliable and as a rule seem to be pretty ugly. I am not saying this to trash you or your decision just giving you the run down on the over all concensus.
I personally do not like Hi Point pistols but every single one of their 9mm carbines that I have used has been accurate and reliable.
I haven't touched a Hi Point pistol in many many moons so they may be better than what I remember.
As for accessories and gunsmithing. Just shoot it and if you like it buy some more magazines. You will most likely grow out of it as time goes on and you catch the bug to buy more guns.
If you do happen to be a Troll, well then what can I say I guess I am taking the high road on this one.

give it a good session of shooting, record any malfunctions or problems you have, why you had them and then report back.
I'd like to see an honest to god range test of a hi-point.

Yeah, I here they're coming out with a Target Grade version any day now. Now that'd be something to get ahold of. :)

I'll too go on the assumption that this is a valid post...
Which one did you get? The compact, or the compensated? I hope you can get out to the range and shoot soon, because I'd like to hear your first impressions on it. I've seen and held all 3 9mm's (carbine, compact, and compensated) and feel rather wishy-washy about them. The comp I don't like the look of. The carbine looked used! (rough finish...but was new). The compact actually i kinda liked...though it is rather heavy. I haven't shot any, but if I ever have cash to spare wouldn't mind getting the carbine or the compact.

Though it's so obvious you're a troll it's not even funny I have to tell you, go ahead and make fun of the Hi-Point's but the one I have, a .380 compact, has been totally reliable since day one, which was about a thousand rounds ago now. For a hundred bucks how can I complain? Now go have your fun trolling elsewhere after you're finished being entertained here. :cuss:

It's buried about 4' under the ground, somewhere in the Sonoran desert!!! I'll even give you a hint as to where it is!! Ready?? Got yer pencil and paper?? Are yew up with me???
IT'S ON THE ARIZONA SIDE OF THE BORDER!!!!!
I'm tired of telling the story. Suffice it to say, that I'm a FORMER Hi-Point owner that could not bear the thought of inflicting that POS on another human being!!! :barf:
Sooooo, get yer metal detector warmed up, your snake proof boots on and good hunting!! Oh, and make sure to bring plenty of water. It gets mighty hot out here this time of year!!! ;)

Not sure about a lot of custom work for your gun, custom work will cost more than what the gun is worth, so just get some extra mags and fire away. Shoot at least 200-300 rounds and give a range report.

Oh, I forgot to mention that it has been underground since "96, so you might have to clean it up a little!! But hey, it's a Hi Point!! That should be nooooooo problem!!!! :barf:

Well i want to say congrats for buying ANY gun you can. And flexing your rights to have firearms.
Now....Hi-point....I wouldnt exactly expect much out of it other than it to go bang. Ive heard they are somewhat accurate....but never fired one of their pistols.
Now the Carbine is wonderly accuate with me to about 50 yards...beyond that I cant see to well. Dont go spending too much money on it. Buy a mag or two and then just go have fun....and be safe.
Then save up some money for a show piece ;)

"...I'll tell you where to find it(buried Hi-Point)...get a metal detector....":
I think you'll be better off with a "tupperware-detector" as
it will be mainly plastic.
Seriously(yeah, right!), I have fired a 9mm Hi-Point compact and Carbine and find them to be a kick in spite of their horrible reputation. And what's wrong the the AMC Pacer/Gremlin? My wife went through college driving a Lime Green Gremlin(the GT), and my stupidest and best bud had an AMC "Spacer". :neener:

I know trolls. I do alot of it. This person is a troll. They've read enough of the forum to recognize that Hi-Point topics generally generate many replies. They also know they are generally disliked but accepted, like the stupid but loyal guy that hangs out with Uncle Junior. He's read sufficient topics, probably 1911 topics, about customization and gunsmithing, trigger jobs, etc to know they are done. Has recognized that this type of work would never be done to a Hi-Point based on the general fit and finish of them and the low cost. Trust me, this is a troll.

Gee,
I've defended Hi-Points on two other threads, but NO WAY THIS TIME TROLL TROLL TROLL!!!!!!!!!
What a hoot. All I can say is be sure to get the gunsmith to put the optional genuine pearl grips on. Then you might want to try out for the Hi-Point Wild West shooting team, though you'll have to post again to ask what's the best cowboy ammo for a Hi-Point. Regards, Keys

I don't doubt that he has been waiting for weeks. I ordered one about three weeks ago and my dealer can't find one. Yesterday I was in the shop and he called High Point directly. They said that they were going to be shipping to RSR and he should be able to get one on Tuesday.
I will post a review when I get it.

hmm they're so cheap, maybe i'll get one myself, the model CF-380. if so, then i'd have a variety, from $99 to $800 guns
hipoint CF-380, ruger kp95, xd40 and hk usp45! now that's a variety, no two caliber alike :)
