You can roll-crimp a cardboard disk over a compressed load of BP or BP substitute easy enough.

It'll make a big "BOOM" and a huge cloud of smoke.

The disks can be cut out of the back of an old note pad, with the proper size punch. Crimping it in place will require a set of reloading dies for whatever caliber you're using.

Pleased to meet you JC , :) I have a son up in Clarksville, But I'm down here in sunny Fl. I belong to the SCV and we do a lot of parades, and shoot off a few volleys and I was wanting to use my side arm , an 1860 colt army cap n ball,

For a cap and ball, I'd use real BP followed by a dark felt wad. Real BP tends to be "smokeir". I know some people use cream of wheat for extra effect.

Howdy, TnRebel.

I'm about 20 minutes or so just south of Clarksville.

As for the blanks and a cap and ball gun, all you'll need is a wad of some kind and a chamber-full of powder to press it over. You can also smear a little grease over the wad to help keep the fouling soft and possibly prevent a chain-fire.

Go take a look at Gatofeo's thread on felt wads, here (http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=123266) for info on punches and such. ( The same punch can be used to cut a cardboard wad, which may work a little better for blank charges. )

I have used newspaper and grease before in my pistol, worked pretty well.

J.C. The quote is from the stand isn't it? Randal Flag.

Which one? This one "Pleased to meet you..."? It's from Sympathy for the Devil, by the Rolling Stones.

The other is from a Warren Zevon song.

In the Stand they had a line that said something similar to both those quotes.

Pleased to meet you, Guess my name?
