Today was a great day to be outside, and so off we went to Carter's Country. We set up at the 50 yard range because we started off shooting our carbines (see the rifles section for that range report, LOL). By the time we were ready to move to the 25 yard range for handguns, there was no place available on the firing line! So we just stayed put at 50 yards, and I put my SRH through its paces for the first time.

I still had 34 rounds of .44 spl left from the original attempt to shoot (that ended up with it back at Ruger with broken cylinder, hammer dog, etc.) And I had 70 rounds of Winchester .44mag. 20 rounds were the SuperX stuff for hunting, and 50 rounds was plain old WWB.

One response: WOO HOO!!!!!!!!

The .44 spl rounds out of that gun are no more recoil than a wadcutter out of my snubbie. You just here this little THWUP and that's it. The magnum loads, well, they're not a little THWUP, :D but they're fun to shoot and even my old arthritic hands can manage. I was a little worried if this would work. It does. :D :D :D

Here's the second of the two targets I used. No scope. (It's an attachment; I can't figure out how to get the actual picture on here. Sorry.)

This is just more fun than I could have imagined. I was a wee bit taken aback at the recoil with the magnum loads...for about the first six shots. Then it was "THIS IS FUN!"

I'll be back there working with that as often as I can afford to buy ammo. (We can't set up our reloading yet; I need to get the new flooring installed in the room where we'll set it up first, and that's going to be a bit.) But I'm fairly confident that I'll be able to hunt with it before this season is over, certainly; maybe quite soon.

Congrats, looks like you had fun.

Now next time let's see how small of groups you can shoot.:neener:

I'm glad to here the gun worked out better this time around.
