Summer internship. My friend turned it down because she found another one closer to home...she found out that I was changing majors to poli science and wanted to pursue law enforcement in the future so she gave them my info.

After I emailed in my resume, which consists of nothing related to law enforcement, criminology, etc, they still called me back. Wish me luck. I'm hoping this'll get my foot in the door and start me off with a fresh resume with something that I finally have an interest in.

Congratulations on getting an honest-to-goodness interview. Not a lot of those available right now.

Good luck.

Don't forget:

"So why do you want to join the Sugar Land Police Department?"

"Free gun, duh.."

Good ruck! Hope you cut your hair last week, tuck your damn shirt in, keep your head up and speak confidently and assertively! No enigmatic quiet Chinaman thing, that has its place and that's kung fu movies!

Hey let us know what the attitudes are there towards CHL and armed citizens. Some guy on another board was sharing a story about how he got arrested by the Sugarland PD for having a fishing knife and a gun on his way back from a fishing outing. The story seemed kinda dubious though because there weren't many details about what lead up to it. I was kinda wondering if he was really sharing the whole story. This is good though...you can let us know.

"Why do you want to join the Sugar Land PD?"

"I'm hoping to find myself a tactical wife within it's confines.." Oh.. oops.. This is Jesse, not Skunk :p

Good luck!!

Teddy Jacobson lives in Sugarland. You be sure and protect him because he does some of the best action jobs ever and not all of my guns are done yet.

Actions by T! Highly recommended.

Good luck, Jesse. Get the gig.

I'd have rather seen ya over at Ft. Bend County, but oh well...Congrats!!!!

I second what everyone else is saying about Teddy. He's kind of a carmudgeon, but will talk your ear off if in the mood.

He's a fountain of gunsmithing knowledge...just ask him. :D

Good guy.

Jesse, when's the MSF class? You get the bike yet?

I've heard so many good things about Teddy, next time I pass through to San Antonio I'm bringing a gun to him. I just don't know which one.

BTW, Jesse, good luck on your interview. Sugar Land is about the best place you can be if you have to live in Houston.

Thanks for the support fellas.

Just got back from the interview and it went well. They're bringing me back next week for more interviewing. Looks like I might be working more closely with the fire department on a project aimed at "reducing the risk of injury, death, property damage and community impact from manmade and natural disasters."

Either way, it'll be a good foot in the door experience.

Thumper,

Class is scheduled next weekend, rain or shine. The bike is at a friend's place and I won't be able to bring it home until I make some space in my garage. Getting_impatient. :)

You don't have to take a gun to Teddy to feel an action from him. If you drop by he has PLENTY of samples. Let me tell you, he does the sweetest Makarov action job I have EVER seen. I just can't bring myself to drop $150 on a gun that I paid less than $200 for. On a $600 SIG it is not unreasonable. Nice Walthers also. All there for you to fondle.

Don't wear Flip-Flops and cut off shorts to the interview!!!

Only kidding, GOOD LUCK to you.

Actually this happened to me once, I was asked to sit in on an interview with my bosses for an open technical position. Interviwee showed up in above attire. Needless to say, the interview was short.
