Jerry Brown appears to be our new top cop replacing another anti gunner. Given his reputation and his new position, I'm wondering what kind of trouble he can cause us. He can't make legislation, but he certainly can make policy and target people or groups for legal scrutiny.
What say ya'all?

Im not too worried about him. They've already banned just about everything cool.. and like you said, he cant make new laws or anything. He's just their doing a job. Even if we had a super gun nut as AG, they'd still be out busting people who are in violation of the law.

Actually...
The CA legislature frequently delegates the power to craft regulations to entities (e.g. Dept. Fish & Game, etc) so that the regulations (aka laws) can be adjusted as conditions change. The scope of those regulations is limited by the legislation which delegates the authority, but the authority is passed none the less.... under that umbrella the AG has been given authority to adjust gun control regulations in the past (e.g. listing additional assault weapons) and more to the point can choose how to interpret the laws where the wording may be vague or ambiguous. So the gun friendliness of CA's AG is significant to Californian gun owners... probably far more significant than the gun friendliness of Texas's AG would be to Texans.

Considering that Lockyer seemed to be on a mission from god to kill the SKS, I bet Brown will be better, or at least "less bad." Lockyer was on a crusade, but "Moonbeam" has other fish to fry. Not to say he isn't an anti, but I seriously doubt he will be as pro-active about it as Herr Lockyer
