So i have have some really cheap shotgun ammo hoping not to buy more. Never been bird hunting before going for grouse or pheasant. So i have a 16 side by side and a 12 pump i have size 7 1/2 and size 6 for the 12 and i have only size 6 for the 16 which is best ot use both gun and ammo, and should i get different ammo?

Everything you have will work okay. If you use the 7-1/2 shot, you will want to be at a fairly close range (20 yards or so). The 6 shot will be better for the longer shots (30 yards or so). If you are going to buy more anyway, you might want to get some size 5. The chart on the box recommends anywhere from 4 to 7-1/2 depending on choke and range.
Choose the gun based on whether you are more comfortable with the SxS or the pump... the gauge is less important as a criteria.

High base 6's for the pheasants, either gauge will do it. The grouse would be better with the 7.5s, although 6s in a 16 are a pretty sweet grouse load.:)
Just remember to KEEP SWINGING in the direction the bird is flying and pull the trigger when the gun goes past the bird:)
