how old is my 410

My Grandfather passed away and left me a J. Stevens .410 model 58B. There are no other markings, just wondering about how old it is, and if it it has a any value. Thanks for any help

also wondering what if anything this gun would be good for, as I never knew he had it or never remember him using it

I don't know about the age but I would guess it is pre-1958 when I got a Stevens .410 (not the same model).
As to what it is good for -- rabbits and squirrels are ideal for the .410. I also harvested a lot of pheasants with mine when I was a kid. But you have to take your shots in fairly close.

The Stevens Model 58 originally was introduced in 1934 and, with minor modifications, such as fixed or detachable magazine, remained in the Stevens line as the 258 until about 1966.
These guns are generally considered not very collectible. Gun Parts Corporation (www.gunpartscorp.com) catalogs parts for the Stevens Model 58B.
