After a couple of years of watching Heat and my other good gun and car DVDs on my 19 inch TV, I decided to buy a HDTV. I don't know all the specifics on the speakers and sound stuff that came in the TV, but WOW! What a difference! The gun fire sounds so AWESOME! The gun fire sounds make Heat even more amazing!

I am tempted to crank of the volume a bit, but I am afraind the neighbors might have the SWAT team surround my house....

Question: What kind of rifle does Al Pacino use during the big shoot out? His rifle seems louder than the AR-15s/M-16s....

I went to a local car audio shop and got to watch the Matric shootout scene in an award winning vehicle. When you heard that gunshot, you FELT it too.

I too was amazed at the betterness (new word?) of the big shootout on a big screen. But the sound is what really suprised me. Specially after coming from a 19 inch TV with a mono speaker, or whatever it is callled.

Now.... what other good gun DVDs feature excellent sound and gunplay? My gun DVDs are Heat, Way of the Gun, Replacement Killers, Patriot, T2, Untouchables, Dead Pool, and Enemy at the Gates.

I have only had time to play Heat so far... Any other good DVDs with great gunfights and sound I need to buy?

Equilibrium and the director's cut of The Wild Bunch jump to mind.

One of the first movies I watched after I moved from a 19" TV TO A 32" TV and got a surround sound system was Perl Harbor, it sound like the plans were shooting thier way right though my living room. The Patriot was pretty awsome too. There is nothing as cool as hearing a shot in front of you and a ricochet behind you.:D

The sound design for Heat is fantastic. The audio for the big shootout was recorded live, through multiple mics placed close and several down the side streets to capture the echoes. With the echoes mixed loud like they are, it's just amazing. :)
