I picked up a Maglite LED flaslight from OSH for $27.
This is the new LED model where it is still powered by AA batteries, but it is no longer using regular bulb; Instead, it uses 3W LED. Overall this is pretty good, bright light, with same control as the rest of the Mag.

Here's the inside 3W LED module. It operates similarly to the regular bulb, when pushed in, the light turns off. This keeps the operating mode the same with the previous version of bulb Maglite though you can't remove the LED.

The light output is pretty bright, tested outside in the backyard. The ouput is white, with cold temperature appearance. It's not as bright as Lithium powered SureFire 6P or Streamlight TL2, but for price performance ratio, this is a very good deal.

Slightly longer than the two AA variant, though I expect the new Maglite LED will have longer runtime, not to mention brighter.

Compared to the GLOCK 22, it's almost about the same length from the business end to the back grip.

Overall I'm pleased with the light output. Going to pick a black one for extra. :D

Does it still have the rings and holes in the beam as you focus it?

Thanks, Griz

Unlike the previous version, this one doesn't have those rings.

Talk to me about the D-cell LED Maglites.... are they as bright as the xenon, or what?
