Can anyone reccomend a small lock box that holds one handgun and is meant to be mounted in the cab of a pickup truck. I would like to have a place to keep my carry pistol when I am at a location that I cannot legally take it with me (certian gov. buildings, etc.). I'm looking for something that would be theift "resistant" thus being mounted.

These guys make an option. Good to deal with and I got a few all keyed alike. Small business and willing to work with you to make sure you're happy.
Not super heavy duty but will stop the average smash and grab thug.

Thanks MUCH...........that is what I'm looking for. I did find a "vault" that mounts inside the center counsel but it's almost $300.00

Check the office supply section of WalMart, they have some that are heavier than the centerofmass boxes and cost less too. Downside is you'll have to drill through it and install a cable or other device to secure it.

I got this off of ebay for $50 shipped. It has a key lock and electronic lock. I drilled a hole in it and added a cable to it. It is in my truck under the back seat wrapped around the seat frame.

I have this in my house next to my bed. It can be mounted. $35 It is very heavy and strong.

Go buy a 'cash box' and screw it to the wall of the cab behind the driver's seat or just lock it in the glove box.

I have one made by American Sentry (I think)
Steel, manual Simplex lock - looks like the one on the bottom of this page: http://www.handgunsafe.com/safes.htm
No it was American Security: http://www.amsecusa.com/hand-gun-safes.htm
(without the Cheesy logo)
over $100 but heavy and all steel
I'd get something with a mechanical lock - batteries and cars (temp extremes) don't mix

I got one a few months ago and really like it.

Might want to check this one out, too. They have two models of safe meant to mount in the center console of a vehicle. I have one of their handgun safes at home. It's pretty indestructible.
