I'm looking at puttig a 30mm red-dot scope on my Ruger 22/45. What brands have you used, and how are they holding up? I dont want a scope that cost more than my gun, but I dont want junk either. 75-150 range. Thanks for any suggestions:)

JD--There are plenty of "Dots" in your price range. IMO the Ultra Dot would be at the top of the list, it's used by a lot of bullseye shooters. I have one mounted on the slide of my .45 wadcutter gun and so far (about 2k rds) no problems and don't expect any. I've got a Tasco PDP 3 on my .357 thats been trouble free for about 5 years and as many magnum rounds. I had a Millett on my K 38 that crapped after about 10k rds of standard 38 round nose ammo. Sent it to Millett and they sent a new one back, no complaints on that one. On the other end I have a cheapy $30. Tasco thats been on all my guns at one time or another but mostly on a .22 with no problems. Sight settings are repeatable, and no paralax to speak of. Like most of the cheap dots the dot brightness is a little weak on light targets on sunny days. Good luck Nick
