About 15 or 20 years ago I bought this revolver brand new from a gun store that was going out of business. I've never developed any interest in shooting black powder revolvers so it's sat unfired in my safe ever since.

I forgot all about it until I recently saw a local gun store offering a nearly identical used Uberti revolver for $350. I told the guy behind the counter about my revolver and he told me he thought it was worth $50.

It's a factory assembled gun with a brass frame, color case hardened seating lever, hammer and wood grips. It's never been fired. It still looks like new. It's marked "A.S.M. Black Powder Only CAL 36 Made in Italy" on the underside of the barrel. The cylinder is engraved with sailing ships and the serial number is in the 52xxx range.

If it's worth anything I might as well sell it and put the money towards something I'll shoot, but if all it's worth is $50 I'll keep it. It's pretty and it fits nicely in an old ornate gun fighter rig I've got, it will probably make a nice wall hanger.

What's a fair asking price for it?

Interesting. I have the EXACT same revolver. I bought it from Dixie Gun Works in late 1990 or early 1991. Mine hasn't weathered the years nearly as well as yours. In fact, it pretty much a parts gun at this point.

New these pistols were $125 or so. I would say $100 to $150, assuming that the buyer would buy a new pietta or equivalent pistol, but is looking for used NIB pistol to save some cash. ASM doesn't have any collector value, and they are generally considered one of the poorer manufacturers. Mine always worked great, until I lent it to a friend who didn't clean it after shooting. He made good on his 'error' without any coersion, so I didn't hold it against him.

So it's a wall hanger. Well I'm not too sorry I suppose, I've been looking for something purty to stick in that gun fighter rig and hang on the wall....looks like this is a good piece to use for that.

It's darn near as purty as that old Hubley cap gun I had, and it's probably not worth as much either! :)
