For those of you who are 1911 fans, Colt is about to come out with a Stainless Steel Series 70. I, for one, think this may be the best Series 70 ever made.

Orders have already been placed by several distributors, so you should get your local dealer to contact them to order one if interested.

No, I do not work for Colt. I have purchased several new Colts in the last 2 years and have been very pleased with them. A Stainless S70 is on my wish list.

If so, this reinforces the "crapshoot" nature of Colt - STILL! :rolleyes:

Looks nice otherwise. Hard to believe that don't make more of an effort to get things right on a 50 gun initial production run.

As mentioned by 9X19, the triggers will actually be short stainless steel rather than the long aluminum that is currently being shipped with all of the S80 Gov't models.

I do think that Colt's QC has improved dramatically. I have been pleased with the new models I have purchased recently. You are correct in that sometimes you have to look at a few to find one that is exactly right. However, most of the issues are cosmetic and do not effect the functioning of the pistol.

I know, but poor finishing is inexcusable on what will be a $1000+ gun. I could probably buy a Norinco if I just wanted a functional 1911.

The pistol shown above was just an early prototype (why you need another proto for a gun that's been made for 90+ years is beyond me, but.....). When released they will have a short serrated stainless trigger and a steel arched mainspring housing. The retail price quoted me by a local dealer was $879. Of course, your mileage may vary, objects in the mirror are closer than they appear, and supermodels don't always look that gorgeous without their makeup.

Honda makes very good, reliable cars, but if most came from the factory with a big dent, bad paint, or loose trim, I'd drive something else.

Colt needs to rebuild buyer confidence.
That the PROTOTYPE (which should have extra attention paid to its production) looks crappy doesn't bode well.

Hmm...I think that's just the lighting.

It might be, but a straight line should be a straight line, no matter the lighting, and toward the front, where the flat and top radius meet, the flat starts to widen.

Compare the top edge of the flat for the last 2 inches toward the front right side with the silhouette of the gun against the background. The overall outline shows a straight line, but the flat is becoming non-parallel in comparison.

Take a look at the cocking serrations and where the rear dovetail is on your BCP Delta, particularly the right side.

That's the degree of difference I'm talking about. Perhaps differences like this don't even register for you.

This isn't a criticism, and that Delta looks nice in every other way.
