I was at a local gunshop today and they had a NIB mkII standard model. Does anyone know what a good price for one is. I wasn't looking for one but the price seemed good, but since I have no price reference i'm not sure.

You can buy the new MarkIII 4" or 6" for around $200. I don't know what a MarkII would go for but I wouldn't pay more for it than a MarkIII.

Since the MkII have been discontinued and many folks dislike the magazine disconnect of the MkIII (although others accept in in exchange for the more traditional thumb mag release position) expect to pay more for a new MKII now than for a MKIII.

Fixed sight MKIII run about $220 here, adjustable sight models (which are drilled for and should come with a scope base) usually run $250+ depending on how many "target" or "hunter" features are added based on what I saw at the last large gunshow. If I'd found a MKII in this price range I'd have scarfed it up, but I didn't see any. Used MKII had asking prices as high as a new MKIII. Maybe its different in other areas, it'd be your only real hope.

Me buying a MKIII won't happen any time soon as I'd need to buy extra mags for it since the MII mags I have don't work in it.

It was $220 and I tried to buy it when i went back today, but the NCIS check was down so I was unable. I dont really want a MKIII due to it's new "improved" features

$220 is a good price for a NIB MKII. I'd buy it if I wanted one. NIB MKIIs are becoming hard to come by.

$220 would be a very good price in my area. To be honest I wouldn't sell my older well used model for that price.

The KMK678GC (http://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/FAProdResults?function=famid&famid=55&variation=Competition&bct=Yes&type=Pistol), also known as The Government will be more than $200. These pistols frequently sell for $400 or so, if you can find them. They are a competition gun, and quite a bit different than the Standard MKII (http://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/FAProdResults?function=famid&famid=55&variation=Standard&bct=Yes&type=Pistol). Yep, I know I've posted links to MKIIIs, that's all Ruger sells these days.

My KMK678GC is pictured below.

Just for the record, Xavier's gun is a "tricked out" Ruger Government Competition model. Don't expect to get those custom grips and muzzle attachment on a new one. Nice gun X, btw.

As far as a standard Ruger Mk II, I'd snap one up NIB for any price under about $250. I wouldn't have paid that much for a "plain jane" fixed sight version a year ago, but now they've pretty much dried up in the commercial pipeline and I would pay a bonus to get a NIB Mk II over the "new and improved" Mk III. I prefer the design of the Mk II and don't want to have to stock two different kinds of mags for a .22 Ruger.
