9 mm reloads

Hi ya'll...

Well I'm back from the range and have all my toys cleaned up and put away.

I took some of my reloads just to see how they went. Well the 9mm reloads went bang evertime but I did see the the cases on the outside on one side had powder residue on them. Is that cause of not enough pressure to completely seal the chamber?

They were 9mm 115 LRN laser-cast bullets
W231 powder 3.7 grains (really soft) but did cycled the action.
W231 powder 4.0 grains (not bad of a recoil)

I also tried to 45 cal too but that's back to the drawing board. Most of them wouldn't even cycle the action. They were getting stuck and would not go into battery. They ones that did go into battery fired without a hitch.

I think what was going on with the 45 is they were shaving off a little bit of lead and maybe not enough bell?

I even tried to act professional by not closing my eyes and turning my head away too much when firing my first handload. :D

I get that residue on most of my cases from guns with commercial ammo as well. I highly doubt it's a problem at all. That load seems light even for lead.

Well in the laser-cast book the starting load is 3.8 and the Max is 4.2.

I started light to midrange.

I'll have to load up some with HP-38 (4.4-4.8) and see what they will do.

LMAO... that's so funny. It's difficult the first time with any reload.... I hear ya.

I was hoping no one was looking after shooting my M38 and then trying not to flinch with a 9mm. LOL...

oh, and the K31 is really fun to shoot. Nice grouping with open sights 25 yards. :p
