Another racist beating his drum...

I know there is already an active thread on this topic, but I wanted to draw attention to what I saw tonight on the news. This also has a slightly different focus to it...

Congressman Rangel was being interviewed on the National News, and clearly stated that his reason for wanting the draft is because he feels that the majority of people currently serving in the Armed Forces are minorities.

He doesn't bother to be confused with the fact (which the news stated) that minorities make up 35% of the Armed Forces.

Since when is 35% a "majority"???

Stupid racist slime...:fire: :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

Imagine that. Men and women serving in a voluntary service because they chose to? Whats that? Since minoritys only make up X % of society we should limit the numbers to match accordingly? LOL

Imagine a sports team with only 12% being black, 15% hispanic, 3 - 5% asian and the rest lilly pink. Not in America today Congresscritter. Nor would he condone it I'm sure.

The people of this land get to do what they want to do, with some doing it very well and I think we've reached the point where 99% of us are comfortable with it and respect their action.

He's a loudmouth Congresscritter and needs to blather to keep his constituents happy. Keep on keeping on.

To paraphrase Ted Nugent, "Let the stupid people talk, so we know who they are"

Wonder what Congressperson Rangel's response would be if someone pointed out that 99% of the forces fighting the WoT--Danger Rangers, SFers, SEALs, Force Recon, Det-Delta, et al--are whiteys? Hey, Congressperson, Mr. Bobo is paying the dues yet again so you can sit around and eat and be indignant.

What are you doing other than whining and bleating, Charlie? Maybe Charlie could volunteer some of his "youth organinzations" in his `hood to fly into Yemen? Nah, he needs them for the "get out the vote" effort in `04.

Man, I can hardly wait to sue people like Charlie for reparations as my ancestors paid the butcher's bill to free his ancestors.

Are those stats acurate?....just wondering?

Rangel is just another Liberal Democrat who does what Liberals do best. Say anything to divide our country. The truth is relative so the reality is what I say it is, they believe. The only way Liberals can hang on to power is to promote divisivness and keep the underclass under their boots. When was the last time you heard a well known Democrat say anything in a positive fashion? When have they ever said the economy is booming, lets make hay while the sun shines, or gee things aren't perfect but they are getting better, or unemployment is low and getting lower, or the private sector has created 100,000 new jobs in the last 6 months, the tax reduction is evidently working.....
Make no mistake. Rangel's message is not to anybody who can think nor will it ever be a positive message. His appeal is to emotional non thinkers who believe they are victims.
The irony of Liberalism as practiced by the Democrats in this country is that they claim that they speak for the downtrodden and the poor workingman. That irony is that they need to keep 'em downtrodden and poor or they lose their power base.
Liberal Democrats are world class hypocrites and Charlie Rangel is one of biggest and best.

sonny, 99% is just hyperbole. Pick up any newsmagzine and look at the faces of the Rangers or SFers. Heck, turn on the Discovery Channel and see the super secret SEAL Teams and look at the faces. That's who is fighting the WoT, Mr. Rangel.

ET:

I don't know how close your stats are, but what's this "Mr. Bobo" stuff? Have we been reading a bit too much Kipling lately? Oh, that White Man's Burden....

I think grampster has it right. Rangel is doing what he does best - stirring the pot.

I guess Rangel forgot that many proud black men and women served in WWII against the Axis and Jim Crow to make sure that he would be able to defend freedom in Korea. Whatta idiot.

We live in a society saturated by racial hatred. "Leaders" of the minority community are the ones to profit and profit big time.

Like any economic system, the supply of any human activity will increase when the reward for that activity increases.

Likewise, lowering a reward will reduce the supply.

Rangle, Sharpton, Jackson, et al are wealthy beyond measure simply because they are at key management points in the racial hatred industry.

No group needs leadership like these clowns.

I just read a newspaper article on this. The pundit was praising Rangel as being like the Kennedy`s, Joe, Jack, Bob and of course, Teddy. All served in the military? What was Teddy, a flamethrower? :scrutiny:

Anyway, being a veteran and a congress type critter is no guarantee of patriotism anymore.

Rangel has no higher political aspirations and his blowhard style appeals to the liberal constituents he represents.

Maybe there's such a "high" percentage of minorities in the military because these organizations are meritocracies.

It's been a while since I've been in, but you didn't get those stripes or bars because of a "let no child be left behind" policy. Like the old stockbroker ad, you EARNED it.

Look at the officer/NCO ranks and see all the minorities. How many hold equal spots in big business?

Perhaps it should be pointed out to Mr. Rangel that these guys go in the service in disproportionate numbers because they see that they can climb up the ladder on their own merits and don't need the Rangels, or the quota system they represent, to succeed in life.

Rangel knows all this, he's just getting some free airtime and earning another biscuit from the liberal whites - "Good Boy, Charlie, GOOD Boy!"

Still, it's fun to poke a stick at these people. ;)

BTW, you can check on Charlie's gun voting record as well as Chuckie's and Hillary's at: http://www.gunowners.org/cgv.htm (use 10027 for the zip). No surprises - I'd hate to live in NY with this bunch in power.

Since 75% of the U.S. population is white, that means that minorities are over-represented in the military.... but, yeah, not the majority.

I think it would be more fair to have equal representation. But a draft isn't the way. How about making the military more appealing to join!?

C'mon, folks...aren't there any chess players in this thread?

Rangel knows that millions of teenagers turn 18 each year, enough to more than replace the entire military.

Those drafted will have to serve somewhere, won't they, men and women alike? [we're gonna drafti women, too, aren't we?]

Doesn't that look like a new government program just a couple of moves away?

The only question remaining is how Rangel and his race-baiting comrades will rig the new service [Job Corps maximus?] to discriminate against "people without color".

What is the purpose of "equal representation"? How does it tangibly enrich and elevate ANYTHING?

What ever happened to color-BLINDNESS?

Oh, the libs like being racist....its cool to hate whitey, remember?

What ever happened to color-BLINDNESS?I agree and in my opinion, that would be ideal. But yeah, I'm a hypocrit and I don't think anyone (white, black, liberal, conservative, whatever) really wants it.

"I didn't get that job because I'm black"

"I didn't get that job because they gave it to a less qualified minority"

boo-f'ing-hoo.... it would be nice if the country could forget race altogether and just get rid of comments like those. But, with so many of us throwing out discreet comments and always pulling up the numbers like this and keeping track of who's who, it's obvious we won't ever do it.
