I have a S&W 4" .500, my eye's aint getting any younger. I've had good results using red dots on .22 pistols.
What Red Dot can take the pounding from a S&W .500 ? Being a traditionalist, I don't like the look of the open dot sights and prefer a tube.
Please don't just tell me to do a search, I did. Question not answered. I'm looking for your recommendations.

All I can say is that in all the red dot customer reviews I've read, it keeps coming up that revolvers like the S&W 4" .500 eat many otherwise "rugged" scopes without mercy, so this is a very good question.

Ultradot says their product will hold up on the largest commerically made handguns AND they have a lifetime warranty. I did a little looking around and found a post on shootersforum:
"I have a couple of the 500 Mags. I had an Aim-Point on it and blew it up. I am now using a Ultra-dot and have over 3000 rounds fired with no problem. I also have used a Bushnell Trophy 2 X 6 X 32 on one and it held up real good.
I recommend the Ultra-dot or a Bushnell or a Leupold scope."
I don't have a big handgun, but I did buy an Ultradot from www.larrysguns.com

Thanks, I'll have to do more research on this. I will post a test of whatever sight I choose.
In the meantime if anybody has any opinions, i'll be here.

+1 UltraDot. Lifetime warranty, even on a SW500.
