Beaut' piece there kali ... no arguments there!

I think overall my choice will be my M27-2 357 'N' frame ..... it's a love affair so maybe i have a bias problem.!!

I do actually have enormous affection too for my Super Blackhawk!

Kali, Is that a bead blast?

No bead blast, its stainless but I think the sunlight reflecting off the finish made that effect.

Just loaded 100 rounds of medium-power .41 Mag. for my 58 for this weekend.

Maybe that's my favorite now.

Then again, I'll be loading some smoker .357 Mag. for this weekend for use in my Model 28, so by the time all is said and done, I'll probably be back at a .357 Mag. as being my favorite...

Choices choices choices...

My favorite ?? Hmm, I think they are all good. The J frames are good. The 3" to4" K and L frames are good too. A scoped long barrel N frame .44 is fun and handier than a rifle. But the 3.5" N frame .357 Magnum, with that deep blue, and some good wood grips, is my favorite. At this moment anyway.

My new S&W Performance Center Model 66 F-Comp with the 3" ported barrel because it looks so good, feels so good in my hand, and shoots both 38+Ps and .357 Magnums so darn well! Dennis

- Favorite "magnum" revolver = Smith & Wesson Model 19/square frame/P&R
(Go figure, the .357 is near the bottom of my "useful caliber" list)

- Favorite "magnum" caliber = .44 Rem Mag.

I'll second that Jason - That 27 is sweet.

A Dan Wesson 15-2 6 inch, accurate, strong, good trigger, did I say accurate. The 44 mag version is as good or better.Inter changeble barrels and barrel shroud and forward lockup for the cylynder contributes to better than average accuracy. Used mine successfully in compitition and hunting for 20 years, not for trade.

In single action it would have to be my early Ruger Super Blackhawk. It is so accurate it is kind of spooky. On numerous occasions it has shot groups of under 1.5" @ 25 yards. With my middle aged eyes I can't even see 1.5" at that distance.

In double action it would be the 3.5" Model 27-2 that I had round butted (the finish was trashed so I didn't hurt any colletcor value). It's just a little too heavy for daily carry (concealed) but it is a delight otherwise.

You caught me at a bad time to answer a question like this. I am on a big revolver kick right now, although I am busy dusting off my .38 Specials. I spent yesterday shooting my Model 66 which is a great gun. I shot some bragging sized groups with it. Last week I spent some quality time with my Ruger Super Blackhawk.

But, since I have given this question a lot of thought over the years, my faviorite has got to be my 4" Stainless Ruger GP-100.

S&W 19 6" bbl.

I think the S&W 27 is a great gun also but the N frame is a little big for me. The 586/686 are a close second place, they are really nice for shooting with that lug.

For carry or as an all around gun I think a 3" K-frame. For me it is my S&W 65LS.

In general, however I can't make up my mind. All three of mine are my favorite:
-4" S&W 19. Great gun, beautiful blued gun, a little more accurate than the 65LS, almost as handy as the 3", handles just about everything I'd want to put through it.
-6" S&W 586. Pretty much the same as the M19, except more accurate (due to long sight radius) and far less handy.
-3" S&W 65LS. Pretty much the same, but more handy than the 4" and not much of a compromise otherwise (quite comfortable to shoot and accurate).

So for a "working gun" I'd pick the 65LS, otherwise it is a toss-up.
