Okay, I am traveling to Indianapolis soon. I am a chp holder here in VA, which I know is valid in Indiana. I know that it's not against the law in IN for permit holders to carry in bars, but is there some screwed up liquor license thing there? Someone told me that Indiana won't let businesses with a liquor license allow guns in their establishments. I certainly don't wish to break the law unknowingly. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Indiana resident, not a lawyer.

So far as I know, carrying in a bar is fine, legally speaking. I have carried into bars while eating. No signs prohibiting the carrying of weapons on any that I've been to in South Bend / Mishawaka / Elkhart so far.

I just asked a county cop, legally its fine, but VERY frowned upon. I see it happen quite often, sometime the owner will ask the patron to leave, sometimes it sparks a conversation.

Try checking it out on www.packing.org, you should be able to find the information on their web, or at least find a link to the CCW laws for that state.

There is no such silly mommie statute here.
