I've had a Marlin .35 Cal Lever Action for years and it is very accurate. It states that the barrel is "MICRO-GROOVED", what does this mean? The rifle is very accurate. I can hit dimes at 90 ft. If I could only have one of my guns this is the one I want.
Any info would be appreciated.

Depending on how gun savvy you are; take a look at the bore, rather than having a conventional set of 4,5, or 6 lands and grooves, you have (IIRC) 12 very thin lands and grooves. I do not remember the original thought behind the idea, but for jacketed bullets they work just fine, for cast it is so-so. In any event that is all that the micro is.

Groove depth is about half of the standard depth. The idea was that it distorts the buulet less. Many think that it isn't accurate with lead bullets but that's not true . To get the accuracy with lead bullets you have to make sure the diameter is exactly right and the hardness too...The 35 is a wonderfull cartridge , significantly better than the 30-30 though they look the same on paper. If you need it more potent use Buffalo Bore loads !!!

correct on sizing the bullets, however most folks do not handload for it, and many of them do not cast their own bullets, IIRC the bullets need to be cast at about 20BHN.
On the .35 Rem being better than the .30-30?! Um, yeah by a long strech!
While neither cartridge is impressive compared to many of the short mags and ubber-mags of today, the .35 Rem still reigns king in my mind for 100yd shots on everything from hog, whiletail, and mulies. On paper it does not show much to be impressed about, but in real life it is a sure one-shot stopper. We've been loading it for quite a while, and while sales never will catch up to say the .30-06 it is a consistant seller. The two best loads are the 200g RNSP-CL and the 205g GC FN. Personally I like my 14" Contender but the 336 is a close second.
