I need a quality dust proof, shock proof, and water resistant high visibility case that can use custom foam inserts (cut by the manufacturer) to carry 2 different weapon configurations:

Configuration 1:

1 HK USP full size
1 S&W 340PD (1 7/8 barrel .357)
6 USP Magazines
1 tac light
4 20 round boxes of ammo
1 shoulder holster rig
1 belt holster
1 ankle holster
1 speed loader

Configuration 2:

1 1911
1 340PD (1 7/8 barrel .357)
6 1911 magazines
4 20 round boxes of ammo
1 belt holster
1 ankle holster
1 speed loader

I suppose I would need two inserts for each configurations so the case wouldnt have to be huge. I know the 20 round boxes of ammo and holsters seem like a waste of space, but the ammo has to be in a closed container, so magazines don't technically qualify. As far as the holsters, I cant pack them because they just get crushed, and I try not to take much of a carry on, so I figured this may be a better solution.

I have looked at pelican and I may give them a call, but I am not sure what size case I really need. At any rate, I was wondering if pelican was really my best bet or if anyone else out there has run accross a better company?

If you have a Fry's Electronics store in your area you can go visit them. They generally have a good selection of Pelican stuff in stock so you can "size up" what you need. I am sure there are other places, such as camera stores that have them locally for you too.

For what you are describing, they are probably the best thing for you. They are solid as heck, customizable and resist the elements well, along with being available in visible colors.

Good luck!

In your 2nd configuration are you bringing the S&W 340PD?

I use Pelican cases of all sizes to travel and they have proven to be indestructible up to this point. You might also check restrictions because I believe that ammo needs to be in a different bag from the firearms. The Pelican cases typically have their pick and pluck systems that allow you to easily customize the interior padding.

Sorry, I updated the thread

Fortunately that isn’t the case, at least not this year

Gudel, where did you get that case, it looks like you can customize it yourself :D

I got the case from a place in Irvine, CA. It's the StormCase. You can customize the foam to fit your needs. It fits in a regular backpack.

I really like this because you can lock it to your bed in the hotel where you are going. It will fit two guns and some ammo, but not all the rest of your stuff. Find another case for the stuff that doesn't need to be locked up.

price Pellican....

then check out http://www.ameripack.com and see how the Underwater Kinetics (UK) cases or Storm Cases compare.

make sure you compare apples to apples (size and foam options).

good luck.

Ziegel Engineering makes rugged aluminum cases with flush cam locks. You will have to cut the inserts to fit and I'm sure you could order an additional insert or purchase the foam in a local store. They are very rugged cases.
