A friend of mine has acquired a few firearms from a family member who was unable to store them.

Among the guns, he said he has a H&K semi automatic rifle and no magazine.

He has it stashed in a safe place right now and is not sure of the caliber. I think it could be a .223 or .308 rifle and is probably classified as an AW under CA law.

Does H&K make any .22 rimfire rifles? thats the only way it could not be an AW.

Since the rifle is not actually his and belongs to a relative in failing health, what are some of his options?

Come on guys - does H&K make a .22 rimfire magazine fed rifle?

If nobody knows of one, then my friend has an Assault Weapon and I need to let him know so he can consider his options.

If H&K makes .22LR or .22WMR rifles, then I am going to have to have him go to the rifle and find out exactly what it is.

No, I don't believe HK maked a rimfire .22 rifle that was imported here.

Hk makes a .22lr conversion kit for the HK-91/G3, but that doesn't change the basic nature of the rifle.

HK made the SL6/630 (.223) and SL7/770 (.308) that have detachable magazines, yet are CA-legal since they don't have any other AW features (assuming the barrels aren't ported).

To be certain, we really need a model number.

It could be legally sold outside of CA.

HK made a .22 lr and a .22 magnum in the 80's. I forget the names of them though.

Sounds like it is probably a centerfire rifle.

The only way it can be CA legal is if it has no other AW features like a pistol grip, etc.

The HK .22 and .22 magnums were wood stocked without pistol grips.

As mentioned, HK did import two rimfire semi-auto rifles in the 80's. The .22LR model was shortly thereafter discontinued due to some problems. Any of the earlier HK rifles can be quite sought after. A look over at www.hkpro.com under "the world of HK" on the left-hand side and you'll be able to find out more about them.

"...a H&K semi automatic rifle..." Is about a vague as you can get. If it's a .308, it's be very obvious by the diameter of the bore. If it's a .223, by the size of the mag well. What model is on the rifle? What kind of stock?

BlkHawk73, I see them now. The HK 270 (.22lr) and HK 300 (.22 WMR) are very similar to the SL6/7, but are rimfire.
