View Full Version : Adjustable Cant IWB Leather Holster?

Looking for options for my Kahr PM9 and my S&W J Frame.

I like to wear the guns at about "4 o'clock" but I haven't found a holster I like yet.

Looking for a simple, THIN design with an adjustable cant. I don't like straight up and down and I don't always like the 15 degree "FBI" cant. I want something I can adjust. I'm also not a fan of Kydex.

Any ideas? Maybe somebody who makes a nice holster for both guns so I only have to order once?

Thanks!

Take a look at Tucker Leather. He has an adjustable IWB called the "Cover Up", but I don't know what all guns he makes it for.

Those all look pretty nice, anybody own one? Thoughts?

It's just about the only IWB I really like. They also have a tuckable model. It's basically just a flap of leather wih a Kydex holster and a couple of 'J' clips or 'C' clips attached, but it's incredibly comfortable with my PM9.

Also costs about half of the Tucker holster.

I like the Ross Leather Model 18 (https://www.rossleather.com/cart/index.cfm?idcat=209) I use for my full sized 1911. The belt loop fastens to either side of the holster with a Chicago screw, making it not only adjustable for angle of carry but ambidextrous as well. Unfortunately, it can hardly be said to meet your requirement of "thin."

Kevin at K & D Holsters has an IWB that is adjustable. Check him out

I've got 2 Tucker Cover-ups, a Tucker Texas Heritage, and a KD Cochise Defender: You can't go wrong with any of them.

I like the Cover-up for smaller pistols, 1911 Officer's size and smaller. It's also more convenient if you have to take the rig on and off frequently.

The Texas Heritage and the Cochise Defender are great for larger frame pistols.

I know the Tucker holsters mentioned are reported to be (realitively) thin, but is the KD (Cochise) holster thin as well??

First off thanks for all the info, lots of great information here!

I'm now between the Tucker and the AKJ. I think I'm going to go with an AKJ because they'll be a bit less expensive for the options I want (I'm buying two holsters, a J Frame and PM9).

Any reason to go with a Tucker over the AKJ?

Thanks!

Rotoflyr:

Our new IWB holster, the Dakota Defender, is thinner than the Cochise Defender. You can see it discussed here: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=231012.

That's a great looking holster, K-Man.

To add to your decision list, I really like my IWB by Ted Blocker here in Oregon:

Adjustable cant, well made leather, durable (have had mine for about 5 years, still going strong).

I use the model 12 in black for my 1911. The thumb break is nice for carrying in condition 1.

Thanks, I stumbled across that thread (and posted a question in it) after I posted the question in this one (but before seeing your post here)
Very nice looking holster and is one that has made my short(ening) list for sure......so many nice looking holsters, so many decisions, so little money!
(actually tougher then choosing a gun! :p )

Andrews Leather and Kenneth Campbell both make them.

I am very happy with my Andrews Macdaniel II. Highly and easily adjustable for cant. I cant mine quite a bit to get the but of my 1911 pointing upward so it doesn't stick out the back.
