I know I will get flack for asking this, but I need to know how to remove the bolt from a remington 700 in 300 mag. I have tried with the " pulling the trigger and pulling the bolt back method" but it does not pull all the way through. Help please:confused:

There is a button at the 12:00 position in the trigger guard just in front of the trigger. Push this button in and hold it while pulling the bolt to the rear. To replace the bolt, just align the lovking lugs with the boltways and push forward.

There's a wee button on the left side. Push it and pull the bolt out. http://stevespages.com/pdf/remington_700.pdf

tank mechanic,

you won't catch any flack...everyone needs to ask questions otherwise you would never learn...

most of the folks on this group are good people...there are a few that joke up a bit, but thats all it is. :)

How long ago did you cycle through Knox?

Like Drue said......BTW, don't attempt to disassemble the bolt itself.....

I always found the 700's bolt super-easy to disassemble. The only tricky part is catching that little notch on something solid. I've even disassembled the bolt at the range, on the fly, a few times. It's no big thing.

db_tanker,
I went to knox from aug 2004 to april of 2005. i was in F 1/81 for osut and then I also spent another month doing recovery and training on the M88 while staying in the ASI barracks. So i was there for a really long freakin time. How about you?

next time, use your boot lace. hook the cocking piece onto your boot lace and pull the bolt body. rem 700 bolt disassembly is about as easy as it gets.

Use a dime to disassemble the bolt.

Got mine back together using vise grips and rag---to prevent scratching.
