Well, I finally got to shoot my new Sig, and I do love it! The only problem that I noticed is that the bluing is already coming off... I only put 50 rounds through it, and it's kind of troubling - it's come off in several places just from shooting it and disassembly. Anyone else have this problem? It seems to be accurate, and I love its size and everything else about it, so this is only midly disconcerning. Is this a Sig thing, or an alloy thing, or something else? My Beretta has several hundred rounds through it and many cleanings, and still looks exactely like it did when it came out of the box, so that's all I have to compare it to.

Hello. First, in my opinion you have a very fine .380 in the SIG-Sauer. Every SIG-Sauer I've ever owned has not held up that great in terms of bluing quickly wearing thin. Just seems to be common to their blued pistols. It never really bothered me as I considered the gun more "personalized" with the wear marks. Others have reported problems with rusting, but I cleaned mine daily when using or carrying them. As a firearms instructor for my police department before retiring, I saw quite a few SIG-Sauer blued pistols and all had very worn finishes.

Kept your pistol clean and enjoy it. If the finish bothers you, you might have it refinished with something more durable, but I'd just shoot the fire out of it for now.

Best.

My wife just discovered the P232 at the recent show... hehe.

Good to hear you had a good time shooting it.
