Okay, Steve, et al., you've convinced me that I should try a 28ga. Where should I start looking to find a 28ga singleshot? I've already poked around a few gunstores, and they look at me weird when I ask for a 28ga and tell me I must mean 20ga.

Do any companies make new 28ga shotguns still?

PardnerŪ - 28 Gauge (SB1-028) Length of Pull 14"

PardnerŪ Youth - 28 Gauge (SB1-850) Length of Pull 12-1/2"

:)

FWIW ...I Need one of these myself. Seems when you get old you forget how to count...always was a sucker for brunette with hazel eyes...
Young lady is bigger now. Driving her Mom nuts for more shotguns and "lots of 28 gauges".

Folks think I am kidding. I really do want one of each of this gun in adult and youth size in 20ga, 28 ga and .410. My home gun is a NEF Youth 20 ga. Seriously!

Third_Rail,
Dead Serious.
I know you will really really appreciate this shotgun, in this gauge.
You noticed it has a fixed Mod choke. You also know how to pattern a shotgun and how to tweak loads to make it shoot better patterns.
Chilled shot, will open the pattern for instance.

You also know how , and have read how I prep these. These things tote so well...and hit with authority.

I did share this little tidbit with you right? http://shop2.mailordercentral.com/bpicart/prodinfo.asp?number=0721628

:)

I am not bad - just consistent

Steve

How raised - what you do. - me

Hey it was about time you joined the "Blame Steve Club".

You are good man, give your wife a hug for me.
Now you know me well enough that if YOU let the wife shoot this thing, and she takes it away and you have to get another one...well technically not my fault.
Being the nice guy I am, I also take the blame for that happening too. :)

Next...victim member please step into my office...

Oh, I'm getting SOOO close to joining the "Blame Steve Club"! I started bird hunting with a .410, moved on to 12 gauge, went back to .410's, but I keep hearing Steves' voice in the back of my mind(along with assorted other voices :uhoh: ) saying....28....28.....28. You, Sir, are going to cause me to spend yet MORE money!!

You could look at the used racks at gunshows for a nice old Stevens single. I'm pretty sure they made them in 28.

My .410 Pardner Youth is headed to the factory tomorrow (well, the receiver is) to get the following:

22" 28 ga. modified
22" 12 ga. modified
24" 20 ga. rifled slug barrel with rifle sights
28" 16 ga. full
24" stainless .50 cal muzzleloader with forearm and cleaning rod

Those 28 ga. slugs look mighty interesting!

I'll be throwing a limbsaver and possibly an additional recoil pad on there, plus adding some weight to the stock. Aside from buffering the recoil I also need all that to add some length of pull.

After I spend a year or two with all that then it's on to the Handi-Rifles for .22 Hornet, .45-70, etc. etc. etc.... Hopefully by then they'll do a barrel in 7.62X54R.
