Hello. My name is Alin Catalin. I have a special need that involves the firearms subject. My assosciate recommended me to use the internet for this purpose, so I will request this of you.
I have a young man relative who is a nephew and he admires of the American story of the Lone Ranger character and this young man would like to have some six bullets made of the metal silver for his date of birth that arrives soon.
Does anyone of you generous sirs have knowledge of where one could order and purchase bullets made of the metal silver? The bullets should fit into a pistole of calibre .38specials (American) or 9X18 millimeters if you know this calibre.
It is of the most sincere urgency that I acquire several of this bullets by post absolutely no later than the fourteeth day of June lest this young nephew man be sadly and sorrowed.
I thank you for much assistance and will continuously read these internet pages for a response.
This matter is most necessary and urgent.

That's a tough one. according to the 1862 ordinance manual, the melting temperature of silver is 1,872 degrees fahrenheit.
This may make the casting of silver somewhat difficult with equipment designed for lead, which melts at 644 degrees.
You still may be able to get someone to do it if 1. you provide the silver and 2. if you can find someone with the casting equipment.
Where do you live? perhaps one of our members can help out.

Are these bullets to be used for decoration, or are they to be actually fired? If they are to be decorative, then you might experiment with gunsmithing "silver solder" of the type used to attach ribs and sight beads to shotguns. Cast the slugs and load them into nickel-plated casings, and voila!
OTOH, if they're to be actually fired, try Winchester's Silvertip line of ammunition.
Just some thoughts...

Hi, Alin. Geezuz, I suspect it's not enough notice for real silver bullets. Have a look here for chrome replicas. It isn't real silver and it isn't .38's or 9mm, but it's got the colour. Hopefully they'll be in stock.

Be careful selling live ammo to anyone.... especially on the net.
Should it turn out to be a minor receiving these items you could be in for a world of hurt from local laws and or lord knows what if one of these bullets gets used to commit a crime.
I am NOT saying the poster above is doing such a thing, but I'd act with extreme prudence if I was in the situation of being able to fulfill this wish.
I echo the above poster. If you are of legal age and want "silver looking" bullets drop into any gunstore and ask for Winchester Silvertips.
No disrespect intended to this person whose first post is asking to possibly get mail order ammo. I'm just paranoid.:scrutiny:

PS: The lone ranger with a 9mm!?!?! Uhm.....
Hi-O Silver and a Glock! - Me dont think so.

Item: he has access to 9x18 Makarov, but he doesn't know if WE have access to that.
Item: English isn't his birth language, although it's not at all bad.
My guess: he's in a former Soviet state, most likely the Ukraine or Russia, but could be any, or maybe the Baltics or eastern Europe.
So that means we've got shipping issues to deal with.
Hmmmm.
Shipping loaded ammo will be a pain, and there might be legal problems.
Alin, if somebody can get you the projectiles, can you have somebody local load them into shells? Silver bar stock can be lathe-turned down into bullets without too much problems. Expensive of course, about $10 (US money) per round just in terms of metal cost. Any machinist (of which we have a bunch around here) could carve the bullets.
Another option: any custom knifemaker who also casts lead bullets could use a forge furnace to melt silver and actually cast them in bullet molds? Since most knifemakers are also gun guys, it shouldn't be impossible? But I'd still say lathe-turning would be cheaper.

Why would anybody need silver bullets urgently ?
What are you hunting?
I suspect it's not Russia/Ukraine, for handguns are illegal there. Baltic states or Moldova is my bet.

I think we need to think outside the firearms arena for this one. Silver poses a lot of problems with regards to traditional bullet making (it doesnt cast well) But, silver has a LONG history of being worked to pretty exacting dimensions. I seriously doubt that any silver smith would have a hard time making a short cyllinder rounded at one end with a very specific diameter. I bet it wouldnt even cost very much to have done (the raw material would be the most expensive part) I would recomend contacting a jeweler or metal smith in you local area. im sure that it wont pose much difficulty. Then get yourself a cheap lee-loader or some such, some once fired brass and there you go. You COULD even charge the catridges with primer and powder but they wouldnt shoot particularly well and they might be really bad for your barrell. But if you really NEED a silver bullet for something i dont think your going to be concerned with barrell life and at close range i bet it would kill whatever you happened to be shooting at.
*edited to add, i really doubt that there are any big regulations on sending just the BULLETS or the loader to most any country that has a mail system. It seems unlickely that the little pieces of silver would be considered (or even recognied as) a weapon by even the most anal of customs officers.
