Hi!

well.. finally took delivery of a vaquero today. (egads... I think I could lose my keys down that frickin' muzzle.. :) ) But I had a question.. since I'd like to personalize it a bit, I thought I might carve on some bone stocks.

That is... if I could find any. Anyone know where I can find a set of plain, non-engraved, not powder/resin faux ivory, not fancy fancy stuff... just plain ol' slabs of cowbone or som'n? Heck, bandsawed blanks would be just fine. Any ideas?

A Google search under bone blanks yielded some results. Bone is a very durable material. But you may find it cheaper to find an old cow bone that has had time to dry and cut it yourself with a band or scroll saw. This material has some interesting patterns and grains. Also the older the bone the more character it has and the less likely it will be to develop severe cracks as it drys futher.

This may not be what you are looking for but these are pretty snazzy for a set of cast grips.
