lifter trouble

Hello all
Have an old stevens 520 12ga that belonged to my father. The gun seems to function ok until you push the slide forward. The lifter stays up and the cartridge stop moves in so the next shell falls out on the ground. Anyone have an idea what might be wrong or how to fix it. The gun isn't worth much, just a old gun that belonged to my Dad. I would love to fix it and have it as a keepsake. Any help would be appriciated

I know this is an old post, but on the off chance the orginator ever reads it again. Your lifter either has a worn spring, or the post it sits on is worn. You should be able to get both of these parts form Numrich.
